Don't wish to step in the middle of an arguement but while its right to say its 'only 3 points' its also ridiculous to say winning 5-0 at Spurs 'doesn't change much'
Spurs finished 1 point off top 4 last season, finished top 4 the year before only to miss out on CL football because Chelsea won it.
Our away form hasn't been great, Rodgers record against other 'top' teams hasn't been great so to go to WHL and spank 5 past them, hit the bar and post and generally batter them for 90 minutes means a lot more than 'just 3 points'
Put it this way, if Chelsea, Everton, Man U, Man C or even Arsenal went there and won in such a convincing manor (spelling intended guv'nor) we'd be rightly scared of what they might achieve.
Completely seperate point Lec but do you 'get' Joe Allen yet? He's played well in the last 3 games since coming back from his injury.
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

I'd also say that if you can't get damn well excited over results like that (I'm not saying you didn't/haven't BTW Lecter), you may as well not bother with football.

Posted this in the Gerrard thread a few weeks back:
I'm probably going to get ripped for this but I'm putting it out there - our best XI does not feature Gerrard.
He has not got the legs any more, how often do you see him legging it back to defend? He doesn't. He will lose the ball and casually jog back; it does my nut in. He no longer runs a midfield. Cazorla would not have scored the other day had Gerrard ran back with him and stuck with his man - something which Lucas does and doesn't get enough credit for, imo.
If we are playing a ball retention-based style of football, I'd have a midfield of Lucas (who I would look at replacing for someone who can throw their weight about more), Allen just ahead if not alongside, and then Henderson.
That to me, is our best midfield at the moment. Granted Allen has been out injured etc but games would sharpen him up, and we need to bite the bullet and do that.
Last night summed up exactly what I meant. The high pressing and constant 'In your face' approach would make us extremely hard to beat regardless of opposition; I doubt it would have been as effective with Stevie in the team with him and Lucas not being as mobile.
Stevie out of the team could be a blessing in disguise.

People can have opinions on BR and his style of play but that display vs Spurs was something I have been waiting for years.
Almost perfect game and it was more than just a game.
It was a proof that we are capable of great performances against top teams if we play smart.
We need to see if we can consistently do that week in and week out but definitely tons of positives from yesterday's game.
