i think it's a bit of - "this players supposed to be good....we can get him now for £15m....if we don't and he continues as he is and he hits his potential he would cost £30m and we will have missed out."

    or

"this players available, he's good....but such and such a club are in for him....if he goes there and is a success it will effect us, so lets sign him instead and stop them getting him"

And they just seem to have bought all these players, with no real thought of where or how they will fit in - just because they look good/didn't want anyone else to get them/taking a gamble and it's backfired.

Spurs undoubtedly exercised a Leeds-esque formula of using what riches they had to stop other teams improving as a priority, rather than improving themselves as their main emphasis.

Plus a bit of throw enough sh*t at the wall and some will stick. I feel sorry for AVB but I don't feel sorry for Spurs. Not one bit. I hope they get a few more drubbings this season and are fighting the likes of Norwich for midtable supremacy.

Sigurdsson, Dembele, Paulinho, Holtby, Eriksen, Chadli, Capoue

Thats just too many, its almost as though they are collecting them or hoping to buy them and make a profit on them
I can see that argument. To a degree I think the criticism could be leveled at our squad building too (do we need as many CBs as we have?).

I'm not sure it is the numbers so much as the blend though - Holtby and Chadli are arguably for the forward line in a 4-3-3. The thing is that no matter what they have done elsewhere the central midfield has never provided them the ball quickly and creatively (apart from the couple of games where Sigurdsson and Eriksen linked well).

Unbelievable how players have rejected Liverpool to sign for Spurs.

I can only really think of Sigurdsson - I know they get linked with every player Liverpool are, but who has joined Spurs, other than him, who Liverpool wanted to sign?

I like it that we win 5-0 away at Spurs and Lec chooses to talk about the time when we were better in the good old days.

                It's never quite good enough.
                Oh I don't know.

Sigurdsson, Dempsey, possibly Dembélé and Holtby too.

Willian was going to choose Spurs over us too. But then chose Chelsea over Spurs.

have they got anyone worth picking up up the january sales
removing all the weak links makes us stronger

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

I forgot about Dempsey, but that was Liverpool removing themselves from the signing rather than them gazumping.

LFC were never seriously in for Holtby or Dembele. Again, Sigurdsson is the only one I can think of. Given the limited pool of potential signings for clubs wanting to get into the Champions League, crossover is inevitable.

Don't forget that LFC signed Charlie Adam and Andy Carroll after big bids from 'Arry as well. (Suarez as just mentioned and I remember them going for Agger too.)

If I had to pick one player to pluck from Spurs it would be Sandro. Obviously they wouldn't sell to us unless we gave them stupid money.

Just watched it all again - and bar one or two chances (the header in the first half being the standout one) we destroyed them.

I think I read somewhere once that (under the terms of their bid for showing highlights) the beeb are very limited in how much air time they can give any one match.

I suppose if you have to include 5 goals plus replays and a sending off it's going to leave even less time available for footage of "general play".

The Scum highlights used to take up half the show when they were winning though.
                                3rd place. Worst champions ever.
