Don't see a problem with Agger at left back,he has everything thats needed there.Certainly hope we don't see Sakho or Cissokho out there though.
Navas will likely start and he can very direct and tricky player which can be a problem for Agger.

Few years back he was a LB against them and Adam Johnson, which has similar skill set, was a nightmare for him to defend.

I don't think any of our options will be great against him but we can double up with midfielders when he has it,if we shift GJ over we move the problem to our right wing cos Kelly is nowhere near ready.

If Flanagan is out then I'd go back to 3 at the back. Bring Agger back in and have Johnson as LWB and Henderson as RWB.
        Sterling up top with Suarez.

Hasn't Rodgers gone with 3 at the back against City before? one of the games last season??

They are strongest through the middle, Navas will most likely be sub meaning Silva and Nasri will start wide and drift in, if Clichy plays right back for them again then he'll come infield as well.
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

So did Gerrard but he has no chance of playing. Hopefully more of the same for him.

I don't like too many changes either but a few points on why GJ should be LB in this game. He often plays this position with more discipline and gives better performances. Currently, his RB performances have been ordinary at best.

Kelly is too far away from being ready, let alone ready against Silva/Nasri.

Agger at left back is an option I could live with. But the reason I've gone for Toure above all else is he is ex-City and is bound to score against them as well as give this game 110% focus. He's also a physical beast with genuine pace that could completely negate Silva/Nasri (having some first hand experience of training with them).

Toure RB or Agger LB,either I could live with. It's not a game for Kelly though.

17 players to pick from, Flannagan to be assessed!

                  Hope it's our best 17.

If we play like we did against Spurs we will win a high goal scoring thriller.

If we play like we did against Cardiff we will lose.

And I don't mean by that that we played badly against Cardiff, only that we didn't play well enough to beat Man City away.

If Man City play like they did against Sunderland then they're ****ed too.

We're assuming they'll be stellar on Thursday but they could be **** at least once at home this season!

I thought we played really well against Cardiff, took our foot of the gas in the second half understandably, first half we were brilliant.

We played the first half against Cardiff like we did against Spurs. If we do that, we'll draw or win. If we sit back and try to defend, a la Arsenal, we'll get ruined

Sure. As I said I'm not saying we played badly against Cardiff but as you both say we took the foot of the gas in the second half.

We need to play from first whistle to last like we did against Spurs.

I think Johnson needs to go to left back if Flanno is out in case they decide to start Navas. Toure or Kelly at RB

I think Brendans pre-match comments hint that we will be going there to play our game and i agree with those who reckon this is the best approach to take.

The front three have such an important job pressing, if they do this properly i actually feel that Sahko/Skrtel will be able to handle balls punted up to Negredo. It is when balls are crossed in at an angle that the defence looks a bit shaky at times.
