Obviously not a defensively minded player and struggled as a wing back when defending. But he's starting to show good signs in the attacking third and his goal was very coolly finished.

There is no fear about him making it. You can see it in a player, he just simply understands football. By February / March people will be wondering why they didn't cough up the small amount of money we paid for him.

Lacked the aggression, tenacity and bravery when he first played for us earlier on. Rodgers was right to take him out and get him to work hard in training. He's come back much improved. Small details, but that goal he scored today, start of the season he'd have passed.

Everything going forward was very encouraging, and could have been even more effective if others had of noticed some of his runs in that first half.
Less said about his other role as a wingback the better though. He's clearly not suited to there, and I can see how exposure to that role can help a player adjust to defensive responsibilities, and while it's fine against the likes of Bournemouth, you could see how exposed it left our left side for both Lovren and Sakho.

It wasn't the big things he did that impressed me the most (though obviously they impressed me) it was the little things. Like knowing when to hold the ball and when to release without panic.

The backheel in his own corner flag area, then the little roll back to Sakho to boot the ball down the line were class too. Simple but oozed of "I own this pitch and you play to my tune". Might come across as cocky or unnecessarily risky but its what someone who trusts in their ability would do. For example a Suarez.

Reminds me of when Henderson first joined - so frustrating to see play poorly because you could see a player is in there somewhere.

Played well last night and has been gradually improving of late. Seems to be getting more confident and willing to take a bit of responsibility.

Was very good in the first half. Faded in the second half but with little game & such a demanding role.. was bound to happen. Like to see him give a role with less defensive responsibility vs Arsenal.. as I thought he left Lovren & then Sakho in the **** a few too many times. That could be down to tiredness, getting used to position or just general poor defensive mindset.

But definitely a positive in the level of performance. He's the kind of player that when he starts running with the ball you do be saying "Go on son, run at them". (something like that anyways )

Talent is there, hopefully he can show that talent in the premier league and push on.
