Everyone faded in the second half, the game was all but over. You're right about him landing Lovren/Sakho in it a few times, but then he's clearly not a wingback so it's not really a surprise.

I'll be pissed off if he doesn't start against Arsenal.

Like to see him give a role with less defensive responsibility vs Arsenal.. as I thought he left Lovren & then Sakho in the **** a few too many times. That could be down to tiredness, getting used to position or just general poor defensive mindset.

But definitely a positive in the level of performance. He's the kind of player that when he starts running with the ball you do be saying "Go on son, run at them". (something like that anyways )

Talent is there, hopefully he can show that talent in the premier league and push on.
I though him & Hendo showed great discipline at times. I was of course worried about him defensively, but he did remarkably well I thought. As pointed out by others, he's one of our many players who immediately look inside instead of outside when in possession of the ball, but at least when out of possession he went to the touchline and offered width.

It's an aliens position to him, but he's earning his stripes out there. When we inevitably switch to a more conventional 4 at the back, we will soon enough be able to count on him putting in the graft & supporting his full back. I don't know if he'll ever suit the engine room of a central three in much the way Rodgers has also tried to put Coutinho in there, but if he carries on like this I'll start to think he has more of a fighting spirit than Phil.
        Forwards.......

I don't think he put Sakho in trouble, he probably did but I can't remember. And Lovren only got in trouble when he tried to press and just got hammered round the outside due to lack of pace.

This lad is going to be world class, and the next superstar in our ranks. Appearance wise, he looks like a **** Roger Federer, but the way he glides across the pitch, and his technical ability, he may be the next star we've been looking for.

He went missing a few too many times defensively but yeah new position & lack of game time.. he was always going to fade. Was very impressed with him in the first half, hoping now that he can progress from this.

Was a bit dubious about him being able to handle the physicality of the league but hopefully he'll adapt and push on for us. Early days for Markovic & he has to start vs Arsenal

In which way did he go missing? Clearly he won't be there if he's on the attack and teams break quick. But his positioning was decent when we took a defensive shape and invited pressure to counter.

Is that every touch Mos? I'm sure I remember a couple of less successful ones in the first half. (And believe me, I'm looking for them )

Definitely lost possession a few times. One time he tried to take on two lads at the halfway line, and he lost the ball, allowing a counter.

                      What a cunt !!

In response to myself, just seen the Gosling goal. Lazar ball watches and allows an attacker (Richie?) to get in behind. Sakho came across but didn't really get an opportunity to come across quicker and cut out the cross.

I'd say he's put in two decent performances so far and in both of them he had plenty of space to run into. Once because he came on at half time when the game was more stretched and once playing against a championship side. He clearly has good technique but it certainly remains to be seen whether he can make an impact on a tight game from the start, and/or against quality defenders. I've made my bed and I'm lying in it, but talk of him being our next world superstar is equally premature.

His touch and passing suggests he'll have no issues in tight games. Of course, it comes down to game intelligence. We'll see.

Mignolet would have been a more sensible pick for the LWB slot
