He was replaced by Lallana in the second half because he'd gone missing. He scuffed a shot past a fumbling lloris and ran for half an hour. I get the impression that people are really trying to convince themselves he'd have been ace if it wasn't for x and y.

The issue for me isn't that I think he'd be ace if... The issue is we don't know how good or bad his is because we haven't seen enough of him. IMO when he has played he hasn't been great, but he hasn't been terrible. You can't expect someone like him to come in and rip the league up straight away (occasionally it happend but it isn't the norm).

If we were prepared to pay £20m for him a year ago but are unwilling to give him a chance to play it suggests there is something not right about the way the club is handling the transfers and the playing squad. Either a lack of communication about signings or just bad judgement or more evidence of the wrong players being signed.

Crazy to think he is only 21 with the potential he has...it is even crazier to see the expectations on his shoulders at such a young age. This might be an area of concern with the FSG policy as it is forcing so much pressure on these kids to be the main men. We could do with a better balance in our signings, (more like James Milner) but I expect it will continue to be about 4 to 1 in favour of younger less experienced players.
