He is nowhere near that level of player. He was fit last season and his play was pretty average for the most part. His first two seasons at the club were average at best.

This season we can right off to injury but despite that it was not much of a drop of in performance compared to last season.

His one good season as in being good on a consistent basis throughout the season came during our title winning season.

If what he has shown over the past five seasons is the standard required to be deemed one of the best box to box midfielders in Europe, then the bar must be set quite low.

He is not a ****e player, nowhere near being one in fact, but certainly nowhere near being a top level player.

Lazar Markovic is expected to be a victim of Liverpool’s reduced fixture schedule with the club ready to entertain offers for him this summer, Goal understands.

There have been enquiries from clubs in Spain and Italy for the 22-year-old, but Portuguese outfit Sporting are currently the most interested suitors.

Their manager Jorge Jesus, who worked with Markovic at Benfica, believes he can once again get the best out of the Serbia international and is the driving force behind the suggestion of taking him to Lisbon.

No formal talks have occurred yet, but Liverpool are attempting to source the best possible move for the attacker, and would not discount the option of another loan agreement if there is a sizeable fee attached.

Markovic, who spent last season at Fenerbahce on temporary terms, showed glimpses of his talent in Turkey but was troubled by a hamstring injury.

However, he has looked sharp at Melwood and if Liverpool had European commitments in 2016-17, the winger would have been part of Klopp’s plans.

One of the first things the German wanted to do in January was recall Markovic from his loan spell, but that was not possible under the terms of the deal.

Now Klopp is in a position where the squad is “100 per cent” too bloated for the requirements of his first full season at the helm.

The Reds boss has admitted the need to substantially trim numbers, and given his options in attack, Markovic is set for another move away from Anfield.

Three players have already been cut from the squad this week with Martin Skrtel, Jordon Ibe and Sergi Canos securing permanent deals.

Danny Ward signed a new five-year contract with the club, but will spend the season on loan at Huddersfield.

More outgoings are in the offing as Liverpool want a manageable group to tackle the new campaign.

It will be interesting to see what size of squad he wants, if we sell all the players we are expecting to we'll be looking at a senior squad something like:

Goalkeepers: Karius, Mignolet (2)
Defenders: Clyne, Lovren, Gomez, Sakho, Moreno, Matip, Flanagan, Smith (8)
Midfielders: Milner, Coutinho, Henderson, Grujic, Lallana, Can, Stewart, Ojo (8)
Strikers: Firmino, Sturridge, Mane, Origi, Ings (5)

That's 23 which numbers wise is probably enough to get by, but there are a fair few in there who are very inexperienced (Gomez, Smith, Stewart and Ojo), new signings that we don't know how well they will settle in and a few players who we need to see more from than we have in an LFC shirt so far.

If a LB comes in Smth goes on loan I guess, the middle new body is still sought but no way will both Allen and Lucas leave as things are.

Although I think a left back is imperative, I think the fact that we have no European football next season will really really help klopp get his teams playing with intensity next year. Just like when we nearly won the league a couple of years ago. It's why Leicester ****in city won the league last year.

Plus you just know that our young players are going to thrive under klopp too.....

I would like to see an experienced head or two brought in. I think it would do wonders for our squad.

But I am optimistic for next season. Big time.

I dunno every once in a while he'll do something and I think okay keep him and then the rest of the game passes him by. He has to show willing or what's the point? If he can be sold while keeping Ojo in the senior squad that would be the best outcome for me.

When he was a kid he did look very special but he hasn't moved forward and was badly mismanaged by Rodgers.

He's lost almost 2 seasons of development and as such he's now competing with the likes of ojo for that youngster role as opposed to being one of our first choice attackers.
