Clinging on to the hope that we will see a massive improvement in the second half of the season. The idea that Sturridge coming back will transform the team is misguided I feel. If we are relying on one player to change our fortunes then it doesn't say much about our squad strengthening in the summer.

It's between us and united for 4th, no disrespect to the other teams. Although both clubs are struggling, the one who turns it around quickest will win the 4th placed trophy. I am concerned that we are focused on potential while they are buying quality for now, and if they follow the same approach for their defence in January, then it will be them.

We keep foscussing on how **** we are, but Arsenal are barely better, City aren't that great, Spurs are ****, United are ****, Everton are ****.

Who's going to push us out of top 4?

I think City will improve and fight Chelsea for the top, we'll be fighting Arsenal for 3rd.

United are a slight concern, with the players they have there's always the fear they'll pick up, but otherwise sure we're ****, but no more **** than those around us.
Chelsea, City and Arsenal (arguably) are clearly this years top 3 I'd say. Southampton and the others should slip away eventually.

I still think it's a straight battle between us and Man United for 4th. If they strengthen again in January we will have our work cut out I'm afraid.

If I had to guess now I'd say we'll be 5th/6th and they will take that 4th spot.

I think quite a bit could come down to January.

All of the big clubs have cash to spend. United will be looking to add options for the back 4, Spurs will likely give Poch some cash to spend. LFC clearly could do with another striking option, whilst a quality DM would go a long way.
        Forwards.......

          Third, maybe fourth.
Brandt - Keita - Van Dijk - Sessegnon

City and Chelsea are pretty much nailed on for 1st and 2nd.
Arsenal look good for third, although one dodgy run of form and they'll be back in the main group of challengers.

Beyond that though, all the teams seem pretty similar. There's teams who've regressed but still should have enough quality in the squad (us, United); there's teams who have shown signs occasionally but not consistently (Everton, Spurs); plus teams who are playing well now but seem to lack the experience and squad depth (Southampton, West Ham). From that I think its a three-way battle between us, United and Spurs for fourth place and its down to whoever clicks into form the soonest.

I think we'll scrape into fourth.

I'm on the fourth spot prediction as well, nothing really changed for me from my initial desciption. Despite dire form and team play we are still close to fourth. And once we get the ball rolling so to speak, we will close the gap quickly. Arsenal I assume will have their after christmas meltdown and Spurs don't look particularly dangerous and united are quite a dodgy team.

It will be close, but I reckon we still stand a good chance if we can get going soon.

I see it as us being one of four clubs battling for the 3rd and 4th place slots.

I think we will turn out to be stronger over the course of the season than two of them, so 3rd or 4th is where I reckon we will finish
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

4th or maybe 3rd. We are only 3 points behind and have the trump card over everyone else with one of the best strikers in the world to come back. We were going along just fine from a ridiculously hard fixture list when he was fit and it'll be the same again when he's back as long as the squad arent already in a "the season is over" sulk. We really need him to be playing at least 23 of the remaining 28 games mind.

It might not be pretty now but it was only last December people on here were saying Sterling might not make it as a Premier League player, he's ****, we wont get top 4 etc when Hull whooped us then look what happened, plenty can change yet.

Classic myopic fan syndrome. Sturridge is not 'one of the best strikers in the world', even when fully fit, and he's not going to magically save us.

Well he was last season. 21 goals in 33 league games is phenomenal. Its only because Suarez was on another planet he didn't get the plaudits.

He might not magically save us, but he will go a long way to bringing us back from the dead.

Not really, you are just a miserable prick. 32 goals in 40 league starts and 6 sub apps says he is by the way.

It's only because Suarez was on another planet that he scored so many goals. He had a great season playing in an attacking team with great movement and pace. He's not going to walk in to this team and change our style completely and bang in a goal an hour.

Hahahaha. Suarez was banned at the start of last season, you might want to go and check who was scoring our goals.
