With others crashing out I think it's a blessing.
Clearly on the evidence of last night we are ill equipped to battle on both fronts and I think we'd have lost ground at home and eventually crashed out had we progressed last night.
I don't think we've quite got the squad to cope, which is a big shame. The key is, if you can't win it, bow out early.Forwards.......

Best comment I've read on here for weeksOriginally posted by Darkon View PostI like the emphasis on the importance of getting rid of European fixtures so that we have a chance of getting European fixtures next season

They'll probably say it's the wrong type of European fixtures. A bit like the wrong type of snow on the tracks

We've bowed out twice in one season at the earliest opportunity. That's dedicationOriginally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostIndeed.

I still think 5th or 6th with goal difference possibly being the deciding factor. Rodgers has definitely turned around what was a dire situation, but I've always felt our recovery is on a knife edge. That may just be my own personal hangover from the disappointment of the first half of the season, but I'm not that confident we'll be able to sustain our good run of results for long enough to get 4th or preferably 3rd. But Arsenal and United have both looked unconvincing so we're definitely in with a shout.
As for the Europa League, well I'm not fussed either way. It's fun challenging for a cup regardless of the competition, but ultimately we probably weren't going to win it and with that in mind the Europa League is a real pain in the arse with it's Thursday night football, it definitely puts you at a disadvantage to teams with CL footy let alone those with no European football at all, so going out could be a massive boon for our top 4 chances. The only bummer was having to play extra time.

The first I was ****ed off about. The second, after thinking on it, I'm not at all bothered tbh. It's only worth it if you can win it.Originally posted by Norbs View PostWe've bowed out twice in one season at the earliest opportunity. That's dedication
I think if we ester players in the league and went for it, we'd have had a great chance. But rotating the squad and aiming for both league and Europa was always going to end in tears in at least one of them. Thankfully, it happened sooner rather than later.
That said, I think it'll have a real effect on the next week or so. Being in the position we are in, we need to be winning home games, but as its City and as we'd have no rest, I think a draw would be a great result in the circumstances on the proviso we then beat Burnley on Wednesday.
6 points from our next two, and well, we would be favourites I think to finish in the top 4.Forwards.......

That's not inconsistent though. There's a big difference between the two?
