He seemed to gain value when he was injured and was held up as being some kind of answer to the early season troubles - it felt like grasping at the time and looks exactly like that every time he starts. I don't think its any coincidence that Liverpool are flat, lifeless and lacking in dynamics when he starts - bring him on as an option to retain possession when a game is tight and the sting needs to be taken out of the game. He seems a squad option, not an important first teamer - he's just too small, one dimensional, weak and easily bullied.

Bang on and completely agreeBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

It's perfectly feasible the way we're playing.Originally posted by Buzzo View Post

I have no idea. There's just no time for training at the moment, and if we enter the Europa League via the Champions League group stage, Rodgers may fancy going for that to secure a place in next season's competition.
The squad needs a period of weeks to train, train, train. I'd say anywhere from 4th to 10th is a possibility. It all depends on Rodgers' flexibility, Sturridge's injuries, Balotelli's form, Gerrard's continued presence in the side, and the defensive solidity. We're just a mess all over the pitch, and throwing all our eggs in Sturridge's basket is asking for trouble. I think the Capital One Cup and Champions League are hindering us short term.

So do I, but I'm not basing that on anything other than we're only 3 points off 4th and still ahead of Spurs, Everton and United despite playing the worst football since Hodge was in charge. We can't get any worse. Basically we might end up getting 4th purely because our rivals have an even worse season than us rather than because we are any good.Originally posted by Alex View Post
Still think we will finish 4th though.

Exactly.Originally posted by G View PostWe've been poor but certainly Everton, United and Spurs haven't been any better than us. They'll get better you'd presume but so will we you'd have to think. If we can get and keep Sturridge fit I see no reason why we can't finish above those teams. Then it's just a case of will Southampton fall away which you'd presume they will.
Our saving grace this season is that we're not the only team struggling for form or points. Southampton will fade, along with West Ham, Swansea and Newcastle. Chelsea will pretty much run away with it, Manchester City will cling on and then as long as Arsenal have their January capitulation, there are two places left for us to fight for. If we can get some sort of run together, we'll put ourselves back in the mix. I reckon we'll push fourth, but ultimately finish fifth.

Past experience, knowing we have the players who can do better, last season, Sturridge returning from injury, January transfer window.Originally posted by Bender View PostReally based on what?
Plenty of things make me think we can finish top 4.
You saying we will finish mid table is more unbelievable imo.
What makes you think we will finish around 10th? We are better than most teams in this league, we just haven't shown it.*Except Michael, who died.

There does seem to be a stubborn notion that other teas like United and Spurs have it in them to improve but Liverpool can't. I don't buy that, but I do think this is our difficult post Suarez season.
It all depends on Sturridge coming back, he is that good. If he can stay fit for the best part of the season after he's back, he'll be the difference between a 7th place and a 4th place.
