Enrique, Allen or Sakho would be the only options IMO. But I agree it should be the same side to start.

maybe - maybe as it's the first chance we have had to look at him rodgers wanted to give hime a good run out and fully assess his fitness/ability

Johnson has been poor at RB in the few friendlies he's played in & did very well at LB so why not continue with the same back 4?

Can will get better with time & with more games under his belt. Who impressed you enough to dethrone him from the starting X1? No one did for me. Allen? Lucas? Surely not Lucas? Can to start for me.

whilst i agree Johnson has been poor at rb - personally i wouldn't be surprised if rodgers went with Johnson/Enrique in full back just because it might be a bit soon for a full back who has only played 4 or so senior games.

Don't see what the issue is haha. Last year are starting XI was decent, it's clear the 'spend' has been to improve the overall squad.

Lovren - is in there starting no questions
Lambert - is clearly only squad cover
Lallana and Markovic - i've said both if fit would have been in contention to start and i suspect will be 'first teamers'
Can - i like the look of, but he's still young and i just feel first game at home against southampton that allen would give us a bit more going forward
Manquillo - is on loan and a kid and i think people are getting a little carried away with.
Origi - is on loan so his £10m fee is irrelevent.

I wasn't disagreeing with you, just think it's a bit funny. I've always maintained though that it's very difficult to improve that starting XI from last season. I also suspect that by the new year Can will be pushing hard for place. There will be fierce competition for places IMO.

yeah i do think Can has the potential to become very important

Manquillo is the interesting one - bit of a random signing - he could be a masterstroke, but when you think of the young full backs we have gone through over the years then to be honest i won't hold my breath - we've signed spains nexts big thing about 20 times over the years

Sounds like this game will be Fraser Forster's debut game for them as well - he just has to be an upgrade on Boruc, who is a complete clown.
