Very similar to first game of last season where we hanged on to 3 points.

I thought Mignolet was very good today, excellent shot stopping.

Lucas Gerrard midfield is very rusty but I dont think it will work against most good PL teams.

Even though Southampton sold the core of their team, they looked very very good tactically. They have some impressive youngsters and they have a very good chance of doing well in the league.

Not really, all he had to do was mark Pelle and then the other guy was taken out too, as it is he completely ****ed that up as usual.

Southampton looked pretty good there and their demise may have been greatly exaggerated. They may have thought if other teams are daft enough to give us £100M for players worth roughly half that then **** it, well do it and replace them and it looks like they may have done just that. As for us we stuck at it and broke them down which is encouraging. Lovren looked good as did the two goalscorers. Scrappy 3pts but that'll do.

Didn't mention him in my post, just shows how I've started to take him for granted. He had a very good game today.

Thought Manquillo was excellent for his first game. Made a few really good interceptions, kept the ball well and was willing to go forward. Not sure why he gets blasted.
              Are we winning?

Unfortunately so, when we start keeping clean sheets and he stops costing us goal after goal or chance after chance I'll shut up about it!

Yup. In the 89th minute he was still buzzing around like a rampant rabbit. His energy and stamina are tremendous.

The sooner Johnson is out of the side the better. Skrtel makes me shudder at times too.

Lucas had a spell to forget from the start of the second culminating to the goal conceded, but the problem is not Lucas per se; it's the one-paced dynamic of the two deep-seated midfielders in Lucas and Gerrard.

I can see Coutinho dropping deeper in midfield and Lallana coming in to occupy the more forward position.

Yeh it ll be tough to adjust coming straight in but at least we'll be a bit more balanced

One **** up in a game by a centre back is all it takes, he was found wanting on several occasions. Apart from that he did well. He just doesn't concentrate. Never has never will.

                            YAYYYYYYYYAYAYYAY!!

I'd rather win the first few games playing like this than hitting peak too early.

Suarez Myth No. 23432: He scored a lot of goals. But Daniel Sturridge scored more winners when we needed it. Shhh don't tell the press.

Barely put a foot wrong, very impressive debut - more so for a young lad playing his first game in a new country and a new league.

I think a Gerrard, hendo , Lallana midfield would be more balanced
