I think I shat myself when they hit the crosser towards the end

      Let's look at the positives.

Sterling is stepping up and taking responsibility. One goal and one assist. Productive.

Lovren is fantastic. Rock solid and spot on every single time. He's exactly the commanding CB we have been craving.

Rodgers with spot on subs. Coutinho wasn't in the game and Lucas shouldn't be in the team. The changes, especially the 2nd, moving Sterling deeper and adding Lambert who's a presence and great option on the bench (another thing we missed last season), gave Sturridge just the little bit more room that he needed.

      3 points.

A win never messes up your position in the PL. We were a little off our game and gave the ball away cheaply. Who cares. Let the ranters rant!

          3 points. All that matters.
          Are we winning?

Southampton closed the space between out midfield and attack really well. Wanayama and Schniederlien are spot on players for that. Pressed hard, worked like *******s. That was a good result against a good side.

And we're 3 points up on where we were last season with Markovic, Lallana and Falcoa still to come in
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

Opening games are always about the points over performance, so I'm well chuffed.

Southampton looked better than I thought they would.

Not the best performance from us. Southampton were very good (much better than I expected).

Most important thing - win and three points
                      Another MASSIVE game

Hard fought win that, but a win nonetheless. Johnson and Lucas need to stop just staring at the ball at times and move. Sterling and Hendo are boss

What kind of issues? Thought the midfield was lethargic and off the pace, which brought us problems in defence. We just are a bit rusty and couldn't control the game as we wanted.

Mot important thing is the win. First game of the season is always a bit dodgy.

Southampton fans will be encouraged by that, they were very good. It was a tough game and we got three points. Quite happy just to get off to a winning start. Brilliant bit of work from Henderson to set up Sterling for the first goal. Mignolet kept us in the game with some good saves.
