Could we revert to a 3-5-2, with Lovren, Skrtel and Sakho flanked by Manquillo and Moreno?
Gerrard and Henderson would occupy the central areas, with Sterling supporting Sturridge and Balotelli? (Or Coutinho supporting Sterling and Sturridge).
Remember Rodgers went with that formation for a while.

Set yourself up for defence with a focus on minimizing space for the opposition once they enter the final third presents a formidable wall, but ultimately limits your effectiveness in attack.
Of course this is where effectiveness from set-pieces, long-ball efforts etc, not too mention capitalizing on the break against teams that are laying siege to your castle reaps rewards.
Its a question of finding a balance..........even with our great performance last year, it's not unfair to say our balance was completely out of whack, just in a good way given our power in attacking play.
We just completely blitzed teams with a combination of precision, speed, possession and fluidity...........but we always had a weakness there to be exploited. Now it's just completely exposed as we've tilted the other way.
Our rearguard is a wretched mix of personnel and philosophy.
Needs to be fundamental changes all over the pitch, whether they can be achieved without waiting until the January window, remains to be seen. Rodgers tactics and the way he set us up need an immediate change that's for sure.

The defence was still **** when the attack was ace last season though.Originally posted by topscorer View PostThe defense is **** because the attack is ****. If we scored goals the other team would be on the back foot instead of us.
Oh, and the coaches. I've still no idea who the hell our defensive coaches are but they are **** and need to be replaced.3rd place. Worst champions ever.

the balance of all out blitz attack was ok last year. we were set up to have almost everyone bomb forward, great interplay, attacking wing backs, and we had the strikers and the star man to capitalize on it.
we have now brought in full backs who will till love to race on, we still play like we want to race forward, but then it all comes to a crashing halt. the final third is almost a no mans land for us.
rodgers needs to sort out this balance. if we continue to overcommit but without the players to score a ton of goals and better support from midfield then we will leave ourselves wide open and obviously concede more than we can score.
we need to be tight at the back even if it means compromising our attacking. we are not good enough to score hatfuls, so we are not likely to recover form conceding a couple, whether it be against madrid or hull.removing all the weak links makes us stronger
too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

Dunno TBH........obviously a great defender at his peak (under some great direction both beside him and from the dugout), but it's very easy to point out flaws on the touchscreen after the fact beside a fool on a Monday night, than it is to get across to two fools before it happens at the training ground.Originally posted by Bender View PostLiverpool GFN @LiverpoolGFN · 12m 12 minutes ago
Carragher: I think if was offered a job in Liverpool in a good coaching role, it would be difficult to turn down.

Has he said as such?Originally posted by Norbs View PostSo Brendan doesn't think we need a defensive coach. This one has legs, but safe to say, from the outside looking in, he's doing something wrongI saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet

“It’s not a case of needing to bring in another coach, a defensive coach or anything like that,” Rodgers said.
