I must say I'm dreading this. After being so ****ing cocksure in the 2nd half of last season, feeling nigh on certain we were going to blow the opposition away in every game, it's unusual and unpleasant going into games with such uncertainty. Until we start to get our game back on track I'm going to feel like this every time. A result here would be massive and you'd think would kick start our season.

I'd probably select a pile of autumnal leaves ahead of mignolet. They might blow away after 5 minutes but they'd still be more effective.Originally posted by The_weatherman View PostMignolet
Manqullio Skrtel Lovren Moreno
Henderson Gerrard Lallana
Markovic Balotelli Sterling
Don't agree with the back four but feel we should stick to a settled one for now. Henderson and Lallana look like a good pairing for the ageing Gerrard (who everyone is man-marking now). I think it will be unchanged or close to it so we can find some rythm to build on.

A point here would be a good result, its got that horrible European night feel to it though. The camera angles aren't the same, the pitches don't look as well maintained, their fans create a different kind of noise and we'll struggle to get the ball moving very well.
Rodgers will be tested here, I think its about matching our players appropriately tonight. By that I mean if Coutinho plays then I don't see him and Balotelli linking up directly very well without Sturridge.
If he goes the technical route, Coutinho, Lallana, Suso then I'd like to see Borini to make runs in behind the defence even if that means Balotelli on the bench.
If he wants Balotelli in for his strength then go with a stronger midfield and advance the full backs who are our best crossers of the ball and push a good runner further forward (henderson) to get around Balotelli when he holds it up.Vive la France

Me too, but I'd settle for a draw today if it meant a win against WBA, we desperately need three points in the league.

Really? I'm feeling the other extreme. Really bouyant that our fullbacks are the real deal, happy to see Skrtel back (ffs, did I say that?) and can't wait to see Lallana and Coutinho find spaces in a 'much more leisurely' European campaign.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostI must say I'm dreading this. Even Balotelli can't miss all of the number of chances we're going to create so I'm going for a 1-1 with a near 50% possession rate. (We'll concede on a set piece)One tit for another.

Loving both full backs, loving Lallana....worried about Lovren, Mignolet and to a lesser extent Balotelli and Gerrard. Also fed up of Sturridge being injured almost routinely. We desperately need him back. Markovic I feel sure will come good. It's just I feel there's a lot of things need to click into place for us at the moment and it could be a few months - after Xmas maybe - until we start to really fire.Originally posted by BigChief View PostReally?
