If what I've just read is correct...

12 years since they've beaten us at Anfield.

    Last 5 home games against them W2 D3 L0.

So yeah, to show a defeatist attitude to the fixture would be absolutely pathetic.

In fairness they'll not have had a better chance for many a year. At least they had a mid week game themselves mind.

Just before they scored the commentators mentioned Borini was coming on

At the time I thought it was madness because the midfield was being totally overrrun

For me Lallana should have been brought on at this point and I actually thought when he did eventually come on we looked a bit tighter and they couldnt get at us as much

That's actually a very good record, surprisingly. I reckon we can nab a point in that case, maybe more. However, Thursday night football is always a killer and Ibe got a knock too which is bad news. Traffic jams, time zone differences, etc, haven't helped.

Still I'm a bit more optimistic about Sunday than I was before. Leaving Hendo, Sakho, Coutinho and Markovic back in England will probably work in our favour.

Playing Thursday was obviously less than ideal, the extra time and going out on pens is the real ****er though I think. Like you say the travel problems are a bit of a ****ter too. Mentally sapping, which can make you feel more physically exhausted.

I hope we go for the jugular against City. No sense being timid against them.

              They're not all that.

Yeah with the travel this week and our current injuries then the situation isn't ideal, but I certainly don't think they're an untouchable force.

Only watched the first half yesterday and the first leg and I believe that, although we're the much better side, the game meant more to Besiktas. Their cup final(s) if you wish. They gave it everything and were actually a bit lucky that the refs for both legs were quite lenient. There was some serious persistent fouling going on but I guess you have to expect that from lesser teams. Fair play to them.

It's incomprehensible why he allowed Lovren to take one.

If it's because only 5 volunteered then then the other players should be ashamed of themselves. If Rodgers chose Lovren to take the 5th then I think it was a terrible decision.

Anyway the whole concept of volunteering to take penalties is bizarre. Players don't volunteer to get picked to play games.

They have a job and earn a lot of money. Management should be telling them who is taking the penalties and the order.
I assume that the manager asks players who feels like taking one because a player who is confident enough to volunteer to take one is probably more likely to score than someone who isn't confident enough to volunteer even if the latter is technically better. Obviously you would want all your players to be confident enough to take one and then the manager would decide on the basis of who he thinks takes the best penalties or can handle the pressure. If you only have 5 volunteers you will soon run into trouble when it comes to sudden death as you will then end up with players who don't want to take them.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Why so? They aren't exactly in much form at the moment and our form is pretty damn good. We should be near full strength.

Because we've had virtually no rest. I'm not saying they will win. I'm saying this is their best chance in a long time.

I still fancy us to come roaring out from the get go. Key players for me are Yaya & Couts. Both had a rest this week and the player who performs better wins this game IMO. I hope they go 442 so that they don't have that 5 in midfield to try and pass the ball and have us chase it as I feel that'd knacker us out. But we will see.

We'll have had all day today and all day tomorrow. It should be fine.

Henderson, Sakho, Markovic and Coutinho will all be fighting fit and should all start.

On a scale of 1-10 how much is it irritating you?
