Last Summer's Signings

So what do we expect of last Summer's signings next season? A year of adjusting to the league for some, and hopefully other's getting over injury worries etc. But what is reasonable expectations from them in a supporters eyes?

Can - Expect him to kick on, possibly in midfield if we can get a good centre back in.

Markovic - Really don't know what to expect here, he could kick on, but hasn't had all that much time to show if he can make it. Showed good glimpses but for £20m he should step it up big time.

Lallana - He'll have a good season. Proven quality. Hopefully stays off the injury list.

Lovren - Do we give him half a season? I think he has to be written off. Unfortunately. Shame.

Balotelli - **** off.

Moreno - Cut out the odd mistakes, he'll become a valuable member of the 1st team.

Manquillo - Will he be sent back? Barely gets a look in lately.

Given the money spent, we should be in a far greater position than we find ourselves, and the outlook on last year's business just looks grim, especially going into the summer market. Brendan (if he is still here) really needs these lads to perform better.

Markovic - Decent and will get better next season.

Lallana - Good player but does he really fit in?

Balotelli -

Lovren - But I do think of how disastrous Pallister was at first for the Mancs. He may still come good.

Moreno - Big question mark for me. Nowhere near good enough defensively but may have a better second season.

Manquillo - Goodbye son.

Can - Will become our new talisman.
Lallana - aka Yossi, decent but very expensive (possibly overrated) squad player
Moreno - Will score a stunning goal early in the season and live off this reputation making copious amounts of mistakes thereafter.
Lovren - Pretty much the same as this season aka ****head
Balotelli - will score a load of goals for a team in Italy
Manquilo - Returned to his parent club, thankfully we kept the receipt.
Lambert - Will become life-size Corinthian football figure.

Does anyone else think Manquillo has been a bit hard done to?

Don't think he was ever amazing, but not terrible either, ive seen Johnson have worse performances.

Can - Needs to play in his proper position. Good first half os this season & lousy second half, lack of pace is a slight worry on times but personally I think he's just burned out this season.
Lallana - Talented guy, hugely over priced but I like him.. will prove a good squad player "if" he can stay fit.
Markovic - Has talent but matter of whether he can cope physically and mentally.
Moreno - Struggled this season a bit but I like him. He does need some serious work on his defensive game.
Lovren - We won't sell as we'd take too much of a hit, he'll be a squad player. Poor signing.
Balotelli -
Manquilo - Don't think we'll take the option to buy.
Lambert - Nowhere near as bad as he's shown at LFC. Between playing style and pressure it just has gone horribly wrong. Best of luck to him elsewhere i'm sure he'll do just fine.

You know, you look at that list and think 'yeah fair enough, I can see the reasoning behind signings those players' but there's not one player there you could say before the start of the season you would be confident of improving our first 11. I gave the benefit of the doubt when we signed them but ****ing hell, what a bunch of random signings

Balotelli -

Lallana has been a disappointing signing. Clearly not worth anything close to what we paid for him.

Yeah we really just added to the squad. Logic seemed to go right out the window alright.

The main problem I have is that there was 2/3 very risky signings. Lovren, Balotelli and Lallana spring to mind firstly. Experienced players and should have brought more, but I'll let Lallana off because of injuries.

If they didn't work out then where does the money come to replace them. £35-£40m was a big risk and we won't recoup that, and after the expenditure, FSG won't be giving Brendan much more this Summer.

The Lallana / Benayoun comparison is quite a decent one stylistically, although I'd say Yossi was a far better player.

i think manquillo has been better than moreno. maybe not ideal for a wing back, but a better defender than most we play.

Can - has proven to be a very useful player that can cover a lot of positions. I think he'll be our DM.

Lallana - I just don't think he has the pace to be a huge impact for us. I think he'll be a squaddie next year.

Markovic - He has shown glimpses of quality but looks very weak. I think he'll get some more game time but will continue to be underused considering what we paid.

Balotelli - I'd happily let go, although we need someone who'll take him. I bet we end up loaning him to an Italian club, who'll claim they'll buy but not do Aqualani style. So I think we'll have him again next Summer.

Moreno - He's been shocking defensively. He had a good first few games offensively but has cost us points and unless he gets his defence much better I wouldn't have him anywhere near the starting lineup. That's a shame because we've not got any other first team worthy LBs.

Manquillo - Hasn't had a look in so I assume he'll be sent back to Spain.

Markovic
I really want him to play like he did for Benfica. If we can tap into that then we're onto a winner. Next season we'll have Sterling, Ibe and Lallana. We need to lose one of them if Markovic is to shine.

Lallana
He works his balls off but needs to be involved further up the pitch to be more use. He's a good finisher, has brilliant close control and vision. He'll play a role next season.

Lovren
I think he will settle down and have a proper pre-season based a season of learning. I think the biggest issue is that we have Sakho who is a left footer CB. I think Lovren will do much better.

Balotelli
**** off. Waste of space. ****house.

Moreno
Jury is still out. Hugely likeable character but his right leg is only good for keeping him upright. Might need to find a better LB in 2016/17.

Manquillo
Will he be sent back? Barely gets a look in lately.

Lambert
Not suited to our style of play at all. Scored a few goals for Liverpool
