Let's face it - if your name is Brendan then you're not really going to command much respect. If your surname is Rodgers then less so.

I'm still pissed he did that. What was the need of taking something Ferguson already did.

Laughing at those who are putting forward "Rafa or Klopp". Rafa is not getting a job under FSG in a million years, or have you lads been deluding yourselves about how they work. Young manager, emphasis on youth development. Klopp maybe, if he'll come and work with young players. Rafa, not going to happen.

Wake me up in August (or July if we can't even win our final match).

The whole transfer committed crap muddies things too much. It's impossible to know exactly who's at fault for what.

If he was responsible for us not getting a decent striker I'd say out. If the committee's at fault I'd say in. This is what screwed our season. Everything else was tinkering trying to overcome this which was an impossible task.

Given last season I'm inclined to err on the side of in. I want him to have 1 last crack before deciding.

It would be easier if we knew all the people that agreed on Balotelli. They would be the first ones to go. Like instantly.

                  Depends on circumstances.

We're down to the wire "look, we're out of time, it's balo or no-one, can you at least try and work with him?" "ffs, I guess I have no choice".

You'd need to know who was initially on the list, who dismissed them and why.

And we'll never know that level of detail so we just have to let it go. Its pointless grinding round in circles.

                    yes.
we could get klopp in but imho our biggest failure is our transfer strategy and scouting or lack there of. that's where we've got to improve big time. that's where we need to learn our lessons fast or we'll continue to strugge. and that wouldn't change with klopp because he was not in charge of transfers at bvb.

Last summers signings were an absolute shambles (could've signed all those players without CL football ) but there are other pressing issues too like lack of fight, losing too many games to inferior sides, unnecessary tinkering, favouritism to certain players, patronising post-match interviews to people that actually watched the game...it all just adds up to a disjointed relationship between the manager and the fans , which is what we have now.

I guess in a sordid way, it would be fun to have another season with Brendan just to see what happens but, for me, he's lost his way too much to make any significant return. Gutted

I don't think he *deserves* to be sacked. Not yet. Just got enough credit in the bank and I think he's a thoughtful and progressive coach.

But, as ever, if there's someone better available I'd like us to at least talk to whoever that candidate might be.

It's a very difficult one. Gauging it from social media, forums, fans I've spoken to etc...it seems the tide has really turned.
Meh, **** social media opinion. The election showed how reliable that is in gauging peoples feelings assuming that is what we think should be important here).

I think the reservation of him is probably appropriate. However, I don't know that the alternatives available actually solve many of the issues we have. If FSG hear a good explanation of our failings and a plan to improve then I think Rodgers has the talent and credit in the bank to continue. If he sees no problems behind closed doors then I think he has to be at risk.

                            Pros:
                            • He took us closer to the Premier League title than we've ever managed.
                            • He plays an attractive style of football. Under Rodgers we've played the best football I've since since Daglish in the late 80s.
                            • He's young and should improve as a manager.
                            • He gives youth a chance (something we need as FSG seem unwilling to invest in proven talent).

                            Cons:
                            • Defensively we've been very poor under him with little signs of improvement.
                            • Seems unable to settle on a formation and plays players out of position.
                            • He's never won anything as a manager.
                            • He's not Klopp.

I do think he's just about earned another season under hopefully a better structure (mess of a transfer committee etc.).

Other than Klopp (is he realistic?) I don't see anyone I would be certain would be a success.

If Klopp then switch else stick

I'm of the opinion that it's now a bigger risk sticking with Rodgers than starting afresh.
                                Yes,

He deserves another chance to turn things around. I am absolutely certain he/we will have learnt from past mistakes especially in the transfer market and he knows the pressure will be on him to get it right.

I don't see the point of getting rid of him now as it will only serve to cause the club to be even more unstable. I know many fans are disillusioned but give him another shot.
