Is he really 4th choice? I thought he was injured and just not back to fitness yet and that was why Lovren played ahead of him. VVD and Matip are first choice but for me Gomez is ahead of Lovren.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Nah Gomez didn't have a great game against Salzburg. Lovren played the next game Matip didn't.

Yeah he was poor, Matip had been our best defender thisbseason. Joe just has to wait his turn.

For half a season before his injury, he was one of the best defenders on the planet.

Since he’s come back, he’s been far too complacent imo, not putting enough emphasis on getting the simple things right - too much of a rush to get back to his best without putting the ground work in.

You could say he needed a bitch slap

                  A mild exaggeration.

Thought he played well yesterday in both positions. One of the few underperformers in the side this year, so would be great to see him kick on from here.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

He did ok & his versatility was handy when called upon. He looked to get forward more then he usually does but there wasn’t much of a threat from Bournemouth really. Hope he kicks on when given his chances.
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

I think his pace gets him out of trouble on times which obviously is an amazing asset to have but imo his positional sense is not the best. Personally i didn't think he played great yesterday even if those stats look good, he looks so uncomfortable in possession compared to the other lads.

Maybe he just needs time and games as he did look excellent before the injury.

I disagree, he makes a few good passes into midfield and the wings.

Yeah, I thought he was great yesterday.

Shook off some rust early on so went on to a great game.

Yup, stepping up at a crucial time. Long may it continue.
