Another good performance and I would have taken a draw at the beginning of the game. Clyne and Gomez have been excellent in every game thus far. I can't believe Lovren is starting to come good. Maybe it's the effect of better full backs? Who knows? Just hope it continues.
You took the very words right out of my mouth.. To add, I thought Lucas was fantastic last night, having him on the pitch allowed us to press higher up (Can & Millner) and he brings balance to our midfield.. He worked his arse off and I applaud him.. I really hope BR keeps him at the club, because unless we have a direct replacement we'll rule the day he was allowed to go...

Ibe was well of the pace and looked out of sorts, horrid cameo from him and young Rossiter must be really made up for his little run out.. kept it safe but didn't do to bad considering the who we played.

Finally, 7pts from 9 Not a bad start, hopefully 3pts at the weekend then we'll go in to the International break in very good shape and huge confidence - The Manc game will be something to really look forward to..

        Serious? Pathetic.
        3rd place. Worst champions ever.

Sky were hoping Arsenal won yesterday so they could wax lyrical about their title chase finally taking off. We spoiled the narrative so they went into backup mode. It was either that or talk about our players - half of which Sky 'journalists' haven't got a foggy who they are yet.
            One tit for another.

Sad as **** isnt it, from the "neutral" media outlet. Also, our penalty last night must have been missed in their alternative world!

Not seen so much uproar over something so minor since "respect the ref" which basically amounted to screwing us over at Old Trafford then forgetting the rule ever existed.

Overall I think we played very well. Going to the Emirates and getting a point when Arsenal are going to dominate possession is a great point.

Mignolet - Made a couple of great saves when called upon. Seemed to be helping to organise the defence which is great.

Clyne - Played very well, especially considering Firmino didn't help him out defensively. What an upgrade on GJ.

Skrtel - Has looked solid. Bit of a daft yellow, should have showed him outside and backwards but let him take a touch beyond him and had to take him down.

Lovren - I wasn't a fan but is looking better and better. Didn't dive in or do anything daft, waited for his moment to pounce or made his opponent go backwards which is exactly what we want.

Gomez - My player of the season so far. Is fantastic defensively and does great going forward. He tends to cut back in onto his right but that isn't a disaster with Coutinho usually on hand to take the ball.

Lucas - He should be starting IMO. Is a much better option than Can at DM. He just nibbles and nibbles giving the opponent no time to look up which is perfect.

Can - Had a good game. Made some good tackles and powered forward on occasions which was good to watch.

Milner - He'll rarely have a bad game. An underrated experienced player who just knows what to do. Will run himself into the ground and puts the opposition under pressure at all times.

Firmino - He needs to work on his defensive cover. Early on it was obvious that he wasn't great defensively so Arsenal kept targeting our right side. I called for Ibe to provide cover but he didn't do much so it was credit to Clyne for handling it.

Coutinho - Absolutely awesome, so unlucky not to have had a goal. His shooting has improved ridiculously over the past 12 months which is exactly what we needed from him to progress. It's a shame he wasn't as good at shooting against Chelski in our title charge season when they sat deep.

Benteke - I'm glad to admit he's proving me wrong massively. A great outlet, good with his feet, powerful and quicker than I thought. A shame he didn't score but he was in the right position.

Watched that first half again and without the nerves. We really did boss it. Can't believe we weren't a few up. Arsenal were better in the second half but we were solid defensively. I think the full backs have made a massive difference, they didn't attack as much. Can and Milner in front of Lucas were pressing high and caused Arsenal a lot of problems. This team is developing for sure. Can imagine the difference a fit Sturridge will bring.

Thanks Steve, I guess it is better to contribute than to lurk every day Hope you're well my friend

I will add, this season has a feel of 2013/2014 about it, early days I know but we are looking good as a unit.. Just need to get it right up front, but the signs are there.

Alan Smith went on about Coquelin (I think) getting the ball before man. They showed it a few times and it wasn't until they showed the angle where it was clearly man before ball that he shut his retarded mouth

Totally agree Ray. 2013 was the year the Club first visited Oz & we had a great season. 2015 they came back here again & we've started the season in the same style. As per usual, we need to keep our main men fit & if we can do so we are capable of going on a good run.
