Hope he turns it around but it's backs against the wall now.
We played so narrow and without any natural wide players or wingbacks that can actually properly cross the ball there is no point of keeping Benteke in the game.

Subbing Firmino for Ings was the wrong decision as if we had kept Firmino we could have had 2 players Firmino and Ings that can run channels.

the way we pushed up with so many bodies but so little penetration is a worry.
then being so wide open to the counter is naive in the extreme.
at times it was like watching a playground full of kids all chasing the ball and no one holding any position.

Looked like we had turn the corner regarding looking at least a little more solid after our first couple of games. Lovern should never step foot in the first team again, simple as that. And too many other poor performances today, against a well organised West Ham.

We reverted to type today, clueless, and no imagination. This against a team that has shipped goals against Leicester and Bournemouth. We should have been all over them at home.

The arrival of Klopp took a step closer today.... sooner the better.....Rogers is fast proving once again what a chancer he is, utterly clueless.

With Phil out I hope we don't rush Sturridge back for United but it would be a welcome relief if he's fit enough to start.

I had been worried about our lack of attacking threat in previous games, but the first half at Arsenal made me re-think that. We don't really have any attacking plan, other than give the ball to Coutinho and hope he works some magic, or lump the ball up to Benteke, but there is no-one supporting him. He wins alot in the air but there is no one to feed off his knock downs.

Defensively where do you begin, in the previous games you thought we looked solid but in all honesty weren't really tested until the second half against Arsenal, there have been some creeky moments where you know that the players are still looking like making those individual error and they certainly came to the front today, there were individual errors for all the goals and the centre of defence just looked ****e, the headers they got on the ball weren't clearing the danger, that resulted in the first goal and there were numerous other occasions we got away with. Lovren gave a comedy performance for the 2nd and the third while somewhat lucky there was poor defending in that too. Lovren got caught under the ball a couple of times through poor judgement and Reid (I think) headed wide. The two of them were dire.

There didn't seem to be the same protection for the back four while Milner worked hard I thought Can and Lucas both had poor games, that said they couldn't have done anything about the goals.

Coutinho shouldn't have been sent off IMO that was a poor decision from the ref, he will now miss the Man Utd game as we can't even appeal that, so who knows where our attacking threat and creativity will come from in that game.

Ings showed some promise when he came on, and Moreno is more suited to a wing back role than a LB.

Terrible result and performance, it wouldn't be quite as bad if we had been chasing the game and that was what caused us to lose by so many, but we barely tested the keeper, I don't know how we can offer so little going foward and be caught out so badly at the back.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Terrible result. Whitby ended up going down 5-3.

Nothing worse than seeing us struggle like that. I don't mind us losing but when you lose like that there are no excuses. 2-0 down and he brings another defender on says more about the attitude of not wanting to conceed that trying to turn the result around.

There have been a lot of players thrown under the bus by Brendan during his time at the club - there are no excuses now, the problems are tactical and systemic. Benteke might as well have been Lambert or Balotelli - he was allowed to offer just as little as they did.

                    Pathetic

But when we want to do both defend and attack well we fall down. Its still early and there are new faces in the team but for me the same questions are still there. Where is the balance.
Exactly my point why I think his time should be up.

Back to front in the centre theres no pace, it causes no end of problems.

He went to 3 at the back and tried to encourage Moreno and clyne to provide the width. It didn't work because our fullbacks were consistently too deep to make any impact. And Coutinho got sent off.

I also don't think Firmino is a Rodgers player - I worry we won't see the best of him in Brendan's preferred formation

No kneejerk, but I wish the owners would put this to bed and end this ****ing charade.

That's the thing that's worried me Dan. Benteke is miles better than Mario and Ricky but if we don't get the system right he will be about as effective as those two were. He looks isolated up top and needs someone up top with him but it appears yet again that we are pinning our hopes on Sturridge which we did last season and look how that turned out.

We did gift them 2 goals. They were individual mistakes and you cant blame Rodgers for that. You can point the finger at him for selecting Lovren though.
