Lovren's problem is his decision making. He panics and doesn't help himself.

We were too predictable today and I don't think Rodgers will turn this around.

I think he's positionally poor as well as not doing the basics when isolated

Defensive mistakes.

Always the excuse rolled out. Do people not think that after 3 years years we shouldn't be making them and the new players bought should be less prone to them? Moreno made loads last season as did Lovren. He's made a few now this season and finally we've been punished. I'll forgive Gomez cos hes young.

Defensive mistakes is a managerial cop out. He trains them, he coaches them, he buys them. You can get away with them when you have an attack that works but we've been clueless in that regard too for over a year and that looks like continuing.

It wouldn't make any difference they would still make individual mistakes that cost us goals, the second and third goals today happen regardless of who is in front of them, the first possibly different midfielders might have closed it down or got a block in but it's mostly poor defending.

The problem is that we have those two in the side we need to have a defensive LB to cover for Lovren so he doesn't get dragged wide. We have one or two midfielders sitting in front to offer protection. That is basically half the team trying to make up for the fact that we have dodgy CBs, meanwhile they still make stupid errors which cost goals and with all that going on defensively we have no creativity or threat going forward. It's a cluster****.

united have daly blind playing centreback for them. anyone would fancy going up against him because hes tiny, weak and slow as **** but schniederlin gives them so much protection you cant get at him.

having a decent defensive midfielder who can track runners, deal with aerial threats and is very mobile is only going to help them. lucas is decent but he isnt top class by any means.

if sakho comes back into the team and moreno goes back to left back i would play joe gomes at defensive modfield and see what he can do. hes got all the attributes and he makes lovren look good.

The defence was shocking all round but it really is worrying that we aren't scoring goals. The balance is all wrong. I thought the midfield was horrendous today and is our biggest problem, they did nothing for the back four & did nothing for the front line..totally outplayed. What exactly are they doing? What's the plan? Lucas looked exactly what he is... unfit and lacking match sharpness. Can, well I still think he has a long way to go. Jack of all trades but a master of none. Milner's work rate is very impressive but what is he playing so deep? The balance is all wrong in the middle and has been since the season started, we have too many players that work hard but don't really affect the game enough.

Felt sorry for Benteke, horse**** service coming to him. Final ball was atrocious. I think we have the makings of a good team here but I still have that feeling from last season that Rodgers just doesn't know what way to set us up.
