The defence was shocking all round but it really is worrying that we aren't scoring goals. The balance is all wrong. I thought the midfield was horrendous today and is our biggest problem, they did nothing for the back four & did nothing for the front line..totally outplayed. What exactly are they doing? What's the plan? Lucas looked exactly what he is... unfit and lacking match sharpness. Can, well I still think he has a long way to go. Jack of all trades but a master of none. Milner's work rate is very impressive but what is he? The balance is all wrong in the middle, we have too many players that work hard but don't really affect the game.

Here is the issue for me

Skrtle is regarded as our best defender when not so long ago he was third choice at best. No improvement and nothing bought in to replace the quality lost. ffs we'd have been better of signing fonte from Southampton.

Incidentally, Lovren looks good when gomes shuts off the channels and gives him plenty of protection. When gomes was asked to go forward and join the attack, Lovren couldn't do his own defending. An 18 year old rookie is doing lovrens job for him.

Lovren's problem is his decision making. He panics and doesn't help himself.

lovren seemed ok when gomez sits back and gives cover, but when gomez has gone forward he doesnt change his play to clear it, still trying to piss about.
trying to play it around, looking like he is trying to show some composure on the ball. obviously this is how they are being trained, but there is a big difference to training in short socks and no shin pads, and a real life match where players are not sliding in and giving you a nice bum cuddle and a spooning.

Yeah tactically inept and it is a bit worrying how many times Rodgers gets the tactics/formation/personnel wrong, or gets bettered by other managers. I like our squad but I do struggle with keeping the faith with Brendan.

Didn't want to really criticise him before the game as results were decent. We did get a bit of luck in other games & when you lose 3 nil so comprehensively at home to West Ham especially after last season... it have to be concerned.

Amongst people I know he hasn't.

Similair story with people I know IRL. He lost pretty much all his supporters after the 6-1, but some were reluctantly willing to see how it goes.

If Gomez has improved Lovren's defending at all then why not put Sakho in as that will strengthen the defence further as I am convinced Sakho is twice the defender Lovren will ever be*





*Even in the alternate reality that Rodgers visits to dream up the team selection that justifies Lovren or Allen
