The first goal is 100% Skrtel, it's an appalling attempt at a defensive header, it's more like a CF knock down to his strike partner than a big, dominant defensive clearance.
Head it back the way it came from, head it out for a throw in, head it out for a corner.
What you don't do is flick it downwards, behind you, inside your own box.
With regards to Gomez's part in the goal he's actually in front of the lad who scores, he isn't sleeping or lets him come across inside him but that's neither here or there.

    It was Skrtel's fault.
    Sorry mate but that's crap.

End of the day it was a shocking performance by both players and manager....it was stoke city 6-1 all over again......the countdown has begun for Rodgers.

        Apology accepted.

Are you his Dad or something? Honestly, what is it that compels you to stick up for this clutz to the point of parody?

He's ****ing crap. Granted he's not alone in being crap but the bloke is a total liability. He's just lucky that he has another absolute weopon dropping clangers ahoy on the other side of him.
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

For me the problem isn't the result, it is the performances, we have done well results-wise but IMO the results have papered over the cracks in the performances. The 45mins at Arsenal aside we have barely created any chances. The Stoke game looked to be heading for a 0-0, until Coutinho scored a worldie, Bournemouth similar situation - a goal almost out of nothing, yesterday barely a chance created, we are relying on a moment of magic or a set piece to score from, yesterday even at 2-0 down with 11 men I couldn't see us scoring. The thing that had got us points so far has been that we had kept 3 clean sheets, but there have been shakey moments in defence in those games, despite the clean sheets we always looked like making mistakes at the back, in previous games we got away with them, yesterday we got punished.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I sort of agree with the performances but it does take time to settle down and get a team working properly. Only one side this season has done this for me really and that's City. First and foremost points are what is needed as it'll also give confidence to the side which you'd hope in turn will help with improved performances and tbh the 3 previous games were good defensive peeformances on the whole just not good from an attacking side of things.

Yesterday was a setback no doubt and now it's how we bounce back from it. Strangely the enforced absence of Phil might offer the chance to play a system to suit the players rather than one of players trying to suit a system as the transition from midfield to attack has been lacking so far.

I agree with that, the problem is that even with it being so early in the season, we should be creating more chances than we are, realistically we have probably created about 5 chances in to total in the games against Stoke, Bournemouth and West Ham. While given our difficult run of fixtures it is somewhat understandable if we want to sacrifice creativity in order to become difficult to beat away to Arsenal, Man Utd ... etc fair enough, but the home games against Bournemouth and West Ham are where we need to be picking up the 3 points, and to do that we need to be creating chances. In those two home games we are fortunate to have picked up 3 points, it should perhaps have been 1. For me there is something not right in the balance of the side for these games.

the balance is all wrong. Can/Hendo & Milner are not doing anything to effect the game up top and it's leaving Benteke isolated. I get being "solid" but they are all playing the same game, it's all wrong in the midfield. Firmino has looked lost & it has been left to Coutinho alone to get the ball to Benteke. The service to Benteke has been embarrassing.

We should be I totally agree with the chances however luckily or not we've got the points. We need to build on that and improve the attacking side of things which have been poor but then so have other sides looking to adjust with the new players.

Regardless I believe he's got this season to get it right if not he's gone, no excuses about not having the right players or staff around him it's all his. Failure or success is about what he makes of it.

Didn't watch the game. Haven't seen the highlights. I get that there were individual mistakes involved but the bottom line is that we lost 3-0 at home to West Ham. It's a disgraceful result.

I said it before but we only play well and win games when opponents don't turn up. Any sign of fight or tactical nous and we struggle. It's down to the manager for me.

12.5% of our season has been good and that was the first half against Arsenal. The other 7 have been ordinary if that. Losing 2-0 at half time but Rodgers decides to bring on another defender against a team that had one up front and wanted to sit back . Tactical genius! Truth be told the previous results were papering over the cracks. There is also a distinct lack of pace in our side now and it is something I mentioned when we sold Sterling. Now Markovic is going and we only really have the inexperienced Ibe. There was no width yesterday, **** movement (Benteke was guilty of this and I'm a fan of his before anyone jumps on my back), everything was going through the middle. It was so bloody predictable. I was at the game and I was very surprised to see so many people leave 10 mins before the end. It says it all really. Pressure is back on Rodgers and reading around the forums it's pretty clear to me many fans still don't think he will see out the season.
