For me it has to be Ancelotti if available. It's the safest choice and he has incredible flexibility and pedigree. He'll get this team playing very well very quickly.
Klopp is also a good choice, but when we're talking calibre and levels for me, they're on an entirely different plain. Obvious choice really if we can convince Carlo about this project.Comment

Liverpool ready to appoint Jurgen Klopp as new manager within a week after sacking Brendan Rodgers
The club are confident the former Dortmund boss is ready to take the job as Pep Guardiola nears a new deal at Bayern Munich - a job Klopp was after
Jurgen Klopp is ready to take the vacant Liverpool job after Brendan Rodgers was sacked.
And the Anfield board are determined to move quickly to make the German coach their new manager before the club’s next game against Spurs on October 17.
Klopp became the new, overwhelming favourite after the Reds’ American owners swung the axe over Rodgers, following a 1-1 draw at Everton.
In a statement issued barely hours after the end of the Mersey derby, the club indicated they had lost faith in their manager’s ability to get the best out of his squad.
Sacking him just EIGHT league games into the new season, after giving him more than £80m to spend in the summer, they said:
“Although this has been a difficult decision, we believe it provides us with the best opportunity for success on the pitch.
“Ambition and winning are at the heart of what we want to bring to Liverpool and we believe this change gives us the best opportunity to deliver it.”
Rodgers wasn’t aware that his position was under threat going into the derby, and he didn’t know that hasty talks were underway among the owners immediately after the game.
But even as he was giving what proved to be a final press conference, the decision was taken to dismiss him.
After leaving Goodison, it is believed Rodgers was called personally by owner Mike Gordon, who has a close relationship with the manager, and then had a conversation with Chief Executive Ian Ayre at Rodgers' home.
Talks were described as “dignified”, and he left on cordial terms.
The Mirror understands the decision came because Klopp has offered a clear indication he will be willing to take the job, after initially insisting he won’t work again until next summer, after leaving Dortmund in May.
Gordon and fellow owners John Henry and Tom Werner will speak with Klopp immediately, and hope to conclude a deal within the next week, if not sooner, and they indicated as much when they said:
“The search for a new manager is underway and we hope to make an appointment in a decisive and timely manner.”
While we understand they are supremely confident the German, who is a double Bundesliga winner and also reached the final of the Champions’ League, will take the job, they will also put in place contingency plans should talks stall.
That would mean a conversation with Carlo Ancelotti, who is available after leaving Real Madrid in the summer. They will also sound out Frank De Boer, who has been recommended by a one time advisor to Liverpool’s owners, Johann Cryuff.
Klopp had originally intended to take a year off and return in the summer, when he felt he would be a contender for the Bayern Munich job. But indications in the last 24 hours are that Pep Guardiola will sign a new contract with the German champions.
That could be the reason the former Dortmund coach has had a change of heart, and he is likely to be unveiled before the weekend, should talks go as planned.Comment

If the guy who called the whole sacking says its Klopp, then I am inclined to believe it's Klopp. Easily the most excited I've been about a new manager since we got Rafa.

That will be an interesting call, because Gary Mac and O'Driscoll aren't really associated with Rodgers, they have only been here a couple of months.
