FSG can't have fired Rodgers early just to scupper the next manager deal with two new unwanted assistants. That's the only straw I have to grab.

I'd expect it's more of a "Jurgen, can you find a role for Gary and Sean in your team structure?" and if he says no, then we deal with the severance pay etc, rather than releasing them now...that way, if he's happy to have them around in some way, the club saves on having to pay off two more people.

What have all the other negotiations been? Its unlikely he'd have discussed personal terms before knowing if the role is actually viable to him? Surely?Vive la France

Of course not, they fired the other two assistants before they sacked Rodgers. If these two are surplus to requirements, they will go as wellOriginally posted by BigChief View PostFSG can't have fired Rodgers early just to scupper the next manager deal with two new unwanted assistants. Might be too cynical, but I reckon this has all been agreed ages ago, including the coach set-up and transfer committee etc. - they've got to string it out for a few days though just so that it doesn't look as though they've broken any rules approaching a new manager while the old one was still in place. And doing it during the international window allows them to do that with minimum disruption to the squad.
