I dont think Carlo's league record is that great for all the top jobs he's had. Klopp's first Dortmund title is better than anything Ancelotti has done domestically in my opinion. Brilliant in Europe though. But I do have doubts about him in leagues, he seems a par man rather than ever doing more than was possible, certainly in recent times anyway.

Ancelotti is a cheque book manager - he just works for the richest clubs - even Parma were big spenders at the time then Milan at their peak, Chelsea, Juve, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid. Talented but not a squad builder or hands on coach.
Fair enough, but I think we must restrain cheerleading on new managers after the experience we've had over the past 20 years or so.
      Are we winning?

Mourinho's record counts for nothing because he joined the best clubs, but Ancelotti's record totally counts, right?

I'm told negotiations between #LFC and Jurgen Klopp are progressing well. Appointment could come before end of week

Awesome. Whether we get Klopp or Ancelotti, we're going for proven winners and that is a massive relief and extremely exciting. And a bit of a surprise from FSG also.

Perhaps, but jeez it's been a rotten 18 months or so as a Liverpool fan so it's nice to get excited about something.

Yep. It's feels kind of wrong grumbling about Ancelotti but it's nice to have this discussion either way! And well done to the owners if it happens, sometimes the obvious is just the best way. I feared they'd try some "clever" bollocks and go for a nobody.

100% this. If we can't get excited about a new manager now, then when can we???

He seems a great character that we can surely all get behind.

I don't expect immediate success, but if he can bring a bit of the magic he did for Dortmund, then I think he will do well.

I'm going to adopt the highly cynical stance. He's got to get us in the CL this season and instill a clear pattern of play fairly quickly. If not, it would have been pointless sacking Rodgers at this point in time.

Yep. I know the timing of their availability counts but this is the profile of manager we should have been aiming for in the very first place.
I wear my heart on my profile name.

If he avoids getting tonked by West Ham or Stoke then there'll have been a worthwhile improvement.

Everyone stopped being cynical for a minute and he saw a gap in the market.

I'm not, but I like the cut of his gib.

He has character in a game that really has none.

Ancelloti seems a bit of an bureaucrat to me. If we were to end up with him, I'd be obviously be pretty happy, but he's not as exciting as Jurgen is.

Loosen up Nige and hop aboard the Klopp express train.
