Mightily impressed that we ran more than Spurs after only 2/3 training sessions. See how we do next weekend after Rubin Kazan though. You can hope for more quality & fluidity as weeks progress. But the work ethic was there & I'm delighted.
    Forwards.......

The team is four km short of the 120 km goal Klopp set at Dortmund, will be so interesting to watch how this develops.

Thats one of the big things for me today, 11 players playing in positions they were all comfortable with. Should be obvious but apparently not.

On the surface doesn't look like much, yeah we played hard for the new manager, yeah we kept a clean sheet, yeah we ran more.

But underneath I was so nervous whether Klopp's methods would work or work in time for this game. What just happened today is almost when you break it down. In 3 days Klopp, with 5 key first team players out, installed his philosophy clearly and effectively. IN THREE DAYS.

Really today I was expecting to lose because of confusion and a lack of fizz after 70 minutes against one of fittest teams in the PL (Spurs). Not forgetting our dodgy defence. Trying to not get too excited but Rubin Kazan are in for such a tonking I don't even know if I can sleep until Thursday now.

In summary, the missus has been informed again.
              One tit for another.

Yeah I was a bit worried what we'd be like near the end and yet it was us who looked fresher!! Brendan and the others got em in great shape by the look of it if nothing else.

If we can come out of this horrible run of away games above or in and around Spurs and Chelsea we'll be well away

Such a shame about Ings, he'd have loved all that today.

Yeah Ings would have offered more of a goal threat while putting in the same effort as Origi for sure. Brendan always got some things right but, like us in the final third, he just didn't know what to do when it mattered.

Drawing with Everton and Spurs might not seem great but what its done is stop them getting away from us at this tough stage for us. Crucial dropped points for them rather than us.

Just a joy listening to Klopp's post match interview with Claire Rourke on LFCTV. You can tell he has such high standards.

He talked about our style of defending was OK for a first step, but not at the highest level, and that we needed to look for the space and play the ball (let the other team run), and we needed to be better with the ball.

Klopp with LFC after the match, seemed more comfortable than with the BT Johnnies.

                        Some decent points raised -

                        * Liverpool started like a side built in Klopp’s image. When you see Philippe Coutinho sprinting to close down a player in possession, you know the players have been told to press high up the pitch to force mistakes.

They did it too. On more than one occasion in the first 20 minutes Spurs players gave up the ball or were forced to knock it forward and out of play – Liverpool clearly started the better. Coutinho, Lallana and Milner were the trio of hustlers, Origi looking to feed off the turnovers in possession with his pace.

Klopp has only had two days of training – so we weren’t expecting miracles – but it’s already clear what the manager wants. Getting it is the tough part.

                        * Unfortunately, Liverpool’s gegenpressing (I shall use it only once) mean that the players looked half-knackered after half an hour. The pressing eased off and Spurs, unscathed after the visitors’ initial assault, were able to take time to find their own rhythm. They began to dominate play.

The two areas where this was most notable was in attacking midfield, where Lallana and Coutinho showed off their heavy breathing, and at full-back. It is this full-back area which was so crucial to Klopp and Dortmund, and also the position in which energy is most demanded.

With the two attacking midfielders tucking in, Clyne and Moreno are effectively asked to cover the entire flank. That’s fine when energy levels are high, but both were guilty of being caught high up the pitch during the latter stages of the first half. Clinton N’Jie – on for the injured Nacer Chadli – was given space to exploit on both wings, sadly often let down by his passing and first touch. However, it was the Camreoonian’s shot that caused the best save of the half from Simon Mignolet.

                            Cheers. Yeah he does totally.

Love how he's already identifying the things we've all been saying, we defo need to be that bit cooler on the ball, pick the right pass etc, for instance if he can get Ibe to show that burst of speed he has; but followed by a cool and considered pass into the danger areas, stuff like that can add so much to the team and players individual contributions.

I heard the travelling fans singing "poetry in motion" at times & it sure was. There was a lot to like.
