Benteke is not facing an extended spell out but is certain to miss the fourth-round tie against Eddie Howe’s team and is a major doubt for Saturday’s Premier League trip to Chelsea.

Irish Times and Guardian reporting it. Missing for the weekend as well....of course.

**** sake this is getting ridiculous. Benteke's bad injury record continues, was only thing I was worried about when we signed him.

Absolute ****ing insanity to pay £32m for an injury prone player like Benteke especially bearing in mind Sturridges injury record

To have 4 strikers two of which are frequently injured is daft and a waste of resources

looks like we'll have to go dipping for a striker in January. Benteke is a very good player but yup we did buy another injury prone player. One of many of the years. Sturridge cannot be relied upon and Benteke isn't exactly filling me with much confidence either. Fragile as ****.

Shows the incompetence/naivety/lack of experience from Rodgers and Ayre

Got to be him or Bobby F I guess.

Can Firmino play as a striker? I know it's not his best position, but surely he'd be better than Origi.

Seriously? The transfer committee surely has to be held accountable for getting in another injury-prone first team striker.

Could go with three up top in effect

I think that's Origi's natural position, he played well there for Belgium.

Against Bournemouth, Allen makes sense, Lucas should be rested. Perhaps Branagan could get a run out?
