I watched the 2nd half again this morning and wondered whether the Chavs had a valid shout for Lallana being offside for Benteke's goal. He looked like he jumped out of the way of the ball and on the basis he was in its path I thought he could have been flagged.

My first thought was he was off, but it came off the defender before that and it was an obvious shot at goal and a genuine attempt to get out of the way so I'm not sure.

No doubt it will be in Jose's dossier he is currently typing up.

not sure of the offside rule now as they change it all the time but i think the fact he jumped out the way of the ball stopped him being offside,if he had made an effort to kick the ball or move to the ball then he would have been offside.

Maybe that was it then. I was under the impression it had got stricter in respect of how much effect a player being in the "wrong" area had on the outcome but perhaps as you infer it's just got more specific.

It's the media are making a big thing of it, they now blow up every incident against Chelsea and put it to Mourinho trying to get a rise.
2 Chelsea players could have punched Liverpool players yesterday and got sent off and the first questions they would have asked him is about the extra 30 secs and Lucas' yellow card.

If he'd blocked the keepers view but then jumped out of the way it would have been pulled up IMO but that's not the case.
