Sounds like something an entitled Chelsea fan would spout.

I really don't understand this attitude towards cyclists. Some stupid bitch almost drove head on into me the other day. She was overtaking on a long stretch of straight road, one lane in each direction, no problem with visibility. I was coming the other way, and it was pretty obvious that she, the truck she was overtaking, and I were going to be in the same part of the road at the same time. I have a yellow rain jacket on, and waved to her, but the bitch kept coming at me, I had to take evasive action by riding off the road. What got me was, she did not give a f**k, her attitude was move out the way quick or get killed. She would have been doing over 100k, bitch. So lighten up with this attitude to cyclists, some may be pricks, but as are in all walks of life. Go out on a bike yourselves and see just how vulnerable you feel.

It's ****ing hideous out there on a bike. I've almost given up now, a lot of drivers genuinely change personality as soon as they get behind the wheel. People get into this weird cowardice in cars - they're all protected and snug and can rage as much as they want. People who wouldn't say boo to a goose if they were walking along the pavement and had to negotiate their way in a busy crowd.

It's a good thing we don't all have supermen exoskeletons because we'd probably be leathering each other all day long.

There are problems on both sides, as someone who used to regularly cycle to work I've had my fair share of incidents where I have nearly been hit by car, have been clipped by a car or had to take evasive action to avoid serious injury, but when I cycle I make sure I am wearing light colours, high viz jacket with reflectors and multiple lights. Since changing jobs I drive to work and knowing what it's like to cycle these days I take extra care on the road, but since it has got dark there are so many times where I have only seen a cyclist fairly late because it's dark, they are wearing black, no reflective gear and no lights, It's so stupid and dangerous going out like that.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Yes but that's not down to aggressive driver behaviour, the cyclist is responsible for their visibility when it's dark of course but when it's the middle of the day?

For me, the issue is one of urban and infrastructure planning. Sticking cycle 'paths' (painted lines) right next to roads is not a satisfactory solution.

In Australia, we have these lanes on the outside of roundabouts, they're the buffer between cars approaching or leaving the roundabout, pretty bloody crap design if you ask me.

This solution is much better and it's the way urban planning should be done.
