Liverpool FC [H/A] Post League Season Thread

8th is not good enough really, but hopefully we manage to do the job against Sevilla and it shouldn't really matter.

Best thing to come out of this season was Klopp.

Really excited for next season, to see who we buy and who we sell.

    Champions next season?
The times they are a changin'.

Can't wait until next season now.

Klopp's done a great job so far (give or take a couple of blips) and with a handful of good signings in the summer we'll be a force next year.

If we win the cup on Wednesday then we have every reason to be positive for next season.

It's all or nothing on Wednesday but even if it doesn't happen, Klopp with a full pre season, new signings and with total focus on the league is an enticing prospect.

Agreed. It all rests on Wednesday (Thursday in the Benderverse). Going into next season with a European trophy, Champions League football, a new stand opening, and Jurgen Klopp as manager will be tasty carrots to dangle in front of potential signings.

It's a whole different ball game depending on the result on Wednesday! Win and we are in the champions league and have less excuses for not aiming for higher tier players. Lose and we go into next season a step behind but with a very strong foundation of Klopp and a full pre season. All about Wednesday's outcome for me...have a little break and then start planning for next season!

Here we go again. Wishing the summer away. Checking every 5 minutes to see if we've signed anyone. Watching ****e pre season matches that are mind numbingly boring.

            I hate summer.

              Good points

Change of manager its like night and day in many respects, Klopp is a mad fan with all that implies, he wants demands more and better, he engages the home crowd and has given all of us hope. This seems to have rubbed off on players with 21% of goals scored this season coming in the last 15 mins and a number of giddy added time winners.

Development of players - Allen, Lucas, Milner, Can and esp Lovren have all come on a bundle having looked somewhere between underwhelming and terrible. While Origi suddenly looks fairly indispensable in Europe. Sturridge, yes I still wonder at times about him but I'll concede he's repaid Klopp's patience and hopefully is now fixed if not a speedy player in the way he was.

The number of youth minutes played - while no one has made themselves an instant undroppable hero, some have shown signs of quality that can be developed and they have generally risen to the occasion when called upon bar Swansea.

Europe - I'm no huge fan of the EL but I'm glad he took it seriously. He knew a sustained league run would be tricky but saw a Cup could be a tonic, a win on Wednesday and we're laughing.

              Bad points

Shoddy work from some important players - Mignolet, Skrtel and Benteke have all shown themselves not be quality that can be built upon. Moreno is a 50/50 for me as well.

Cheap goals conceded - see above really. Too many players at the back letting us down. When the opposition score it's rarely down to a brilliant move like Hazard the other night, its nearly always a stupid error.

Happy with 8th and 2 finals. Klopp needed this half season himself to adjust to the PL. Onwards and upwards

So when we get into the CL next week, is it at another teams expense, or is it; as i expect it would/should be; that they have a place allocated for the Uefa cup winners when the Group stages commence ?

I'm super-psyched to see what Klopp can do in the summer.

Clearly looking forward to Wednesday, but it will certainly be interesting to see what Klopp has in mind as to which area of the squad he addresses first. I don't care if I'm wishing my summer away, I want the new buys to be in this week and the season to start again next weekend.

I don't think any player is completely safe and I do think we'll see a surprise or two in the shake-up of the squad (see Henderson or Sturridge). With regards to the squaddies, it has been impressive seeing what extra Klopp can draw out of them (see Lovren and Allen). As long as Klopp replaces Mignolet and he builds his team around Can, I think we will improve tenfold and my new season optimism is at a record high.

We'll have Hodgson's excuses and negative drivel to pass some of the summer time anyway and I'm genuinely thinking about giving cricket some of my time too.

Right, pending any final positional changes after the United game is rearranged the earnings for this year should look something like this.

No code has to be inserted here.Hopefully we use of that money to allow Klopp better control over player acquisition. With the [fingers crossed] added bonus of CL money and huge amounts from the next TV deal it is a crunch time not to fall further behind

It would only be at the expense of another team if an English team had won CL but not qualified through the league. In that scenario the 4th place team would drop to Europa. As it is at the moment there is a spot reserved for Europa winners who don't qualify through the league. If we had finished 4th and won the Europa then the spot would filter down so a team that may have had to play a qualifying round will go into groups and a team that might have played in 2nd qualifying will now only need to play final qualifying etc.

As a number of people have said our season comes down to Wednesday, a win would give us a european trophy and champions league qualification, defeat would make it a season to forget.

Our league season has been fairly disjointed, we have had so many injuries (again) and the season had tailed off as we have been focusing on Europe. I guess that in a way this has been a good season for Klopp to evaluate which players have a future - it's more difficult to assess players when the side is playing well. Also we have been able to give some of the kids a game and some of them are looking promising.

We have suffered from a lack of goals because all of our strikers have missed significant parts of the season, that seems to have become less of a problem at the end of the season. The big issue is the defence, we conceded 50 goals which is a major issue (148 league goals conceded in the last 3 seasons) we really need to sort this over the summer.

A couple of cup finals is good especially if we are able to win next week, but 8th place in the league isn't good enough. It's frustrating because I believe we have a decent squad but we can't cope with the injuries we have had
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

with Klopp we have chance to give a good account of us in Europe if we manage to get Champions league,

This year we have badly thrown away a proper tilt at top four , every time we get in the position we seem to lose.

7/10 since Klopp came in the door , but he has made me smile about us a few times and hope to see next year that smile every week.
