We were totally dominant in the first half, eventually the pressure told and we got our goal, but I think we are still lacking sharpness, Bobby and Salah don't look anywhere near the level of last season, hopefully that will come soon.
I thought that Gomez did really well tonight, having VVD helps massively but I was impressed with him, another clean sheet. Alisson was also really good, a couple of decent saves and claims, and his distribution was excellent.
Keita was great again, I also thought Wijnaldum did well helping out the defence particularly with Zaha. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Whole of the defence performed well tonight. VVD was outstanding and fair play to Gomez too - he’s played great the first two games.
Alisson - already looks value for money.
Make no mistake Palace tried bullying us and came up short.James Philip Milner Fanclub #1

That performance was several years in the making.
A lot of patience required in the first half but they kept at it and didn't really give palace a chance on the counter.
How many times in previous years would the team have conceded, particularly late on or off a set piece against a physically strong side like palace.
But this time, the defence was for the most part superb and most impressively around 85 you could see the team show game intelligence and switch to keeping possession to see it out at 1-0.
Having VVD and Alisson has made the difference. I thought the keeper could be Motm, solid throughout and played some great passes to take the pressure off the team or set them straight away on the counterY.N.W.A!!!!!!

Gomez is mint, Van Dijk and Alisson too but that was always clear. Nice to have Mane killing it until Firmino and Salah get back to their best. Salah looked jaded at times - still won a pen, red card and an assist
Robertson is still incredible, as is TAA. If he really ever moves to midfield though, I'd like us to try and get Wan-Bissaka, he's got everything. Even the red card was a good move at the time. I thought Henderson was great when he came on and I'd like to see him start vs. Brighton in place of Wijnaldum. Milner stays
Only downside for me is Lallana, plays like he's inside a pinball machine just returning every pass backwards with his first touch when he's in acres of space to move forward. And then gets done by Joel ****in Ward. The worst thing is his fidgety body movement, every move he makes he tries to make seem like it's really intense and flamyboyant when he's actually doing **** all, like he's fooling anyone. Don't know why Shaqiri didn't come on instead.
Great win and another clean sheet, Palace fans can now go home and wank themselves off over highlights showing all those decisions were 100% correct.

Also would not say no to Zaha in the future, he'd complement the attack well.
To their credit, Palace did not make it easy, they defended well and had the courage to try and get forward when the opportunity showed. Makes the win all the more impressive.Y.N.W.A!!!!!!

I hope it's just him not being match sharp after the injuries, but I've been worried about him since he came back last season. A couple of years ago he was great, but it feels to me like he got injured, and in that time the team moved on but he hasn't and now he's got left behind, he doesn't seem suited to our current side. As I say hopefully he will get beyond this and get back to the level he was at before his injuries.Originally posted by Fuzzy View Post
