Very good win that and thoroughly deserved. Away's v these, Leicester and perhaps Everton are our toughest games outside games v the 5 main rivals so nice to get one of those out the way. Makes me laugh when I see people saying we can't win the league because of our **** defence, we've been excellent defensively for 8 months now and it will only get better with Godlisson and Fabinho. When other teams have corners or free kicks it actually feels more likely it'll end in a goal for us than them like it did tonight. Virg is the best centre back on this earth, there is no other defender that has every attribute you'd want in a centre back. Now we've also got the goalie version of him.

Can't believe Mo ruined what would have been the greatest assist the sport has ever seen but I will forgive him.

Great to have a referee doing his job properly as well, makes such a difference. Roy Hodgson is absolute vermin. And you can certainly tell that whiney, entitled ****house Zaha has spent some time at Man Utd.

Watching the highlights after the match and I think we could have scored more. On balance it was comfortable and the score line flatters them more than us.

He was on top form wasn't he. Spends about 10 minutes babbling on about the things the ref's got wrong then finishes up by saying he doesn't like to talk about refereeing decisions

I'm seeing a lot elsewhere about the penalty, maybe it's just me but I don't see what the issue with the penalty is, Sakho had 2 or 3 attempts at bringing down Salah and never got the ball, for me it's as clear as day.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

we are absolutely miles away from our best in these two games, two clean sheets and 6 goals, options left on the bench and out of the squad

Other than this city squad, i'd say we are probably the best PL team since Chelsea 05?

Not quite fully clicking for us yet.

Firmino is not quite at the the races. Keita has been good, but I feel he has another gear or two, once he has settled. It must be difficult for a player that can do everything amazingly well to fit in as a cog. Benitez had a go at Gerrard for this too. I wonder if Klopp knows his best position. Was he bought to replace or complement Coutinho? Is he better playing slightly deeper and hitting those "hollywood" balls? I think it is going to be fun finding out. Definitely on another level to the rest of our midfield. My fear is some might see him as less sucessful numbers wise because of the role he is playing.

What is evident is there are no weak links in the chain this season, and its always nice to know we are not at our ceiling, with a manager who really knows how to develop players for the system he has belief in.

This is while sitting behind City's plus seven goal difference. The other teams must be think there is no way they can reach City unless they have a dip. But City know that they cant afford to **** up either because there is one other team riding their coat tails

Wherever we finish, it will be in ****ing style. I dont think we can finish above City... their squad has more depth which will suit them over a season. But they must feel our first 11 v theirs, we may even be better. We just need a couple of months for the newer players to bed in.

And, crucially, not one of those three attempts was anywhere near the ball. He was purely trying to stop Salah, not win the ball. Zaha wouldn’t have been on his feet for the third that actually made contact if the situation was reversed.

Definite pen, even if it does look a bit soft.

Well according to our blue mentally challenged cousins when VAR comes in next year we will be back to scrapping for 8th place.

The players who went beyond the group stages of the WC don'tl look sharp, neither really does Salah. It seems like Klopp has had a word with the players who weren't at the WC to say they really have to be on their game to get us through these games while the WC players are recovering, particularly in the early part of the season because there have been alot of excellent performances from those lads.

Pretty much agree with all that.

Also thought Trent was miles off his best tonight - his delivery in the two games so far has been gash.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

I think it was a soft one to be honest. Maybe just the views I've seen but it wasn't clear where there was contact with Mo's feet/legs to bring him down. I think we'd be pissed if zaha had won that one.

Our worst performing players on the night (by their standards) were arguably those who are usually our most consistent - Trent, Robbo, Firmino and Salah.

On the City thing, it’ll be interesting to see what happens if we can keep the pressure on. Pressure is a funny thing. Last year they pissed it so never had to deal with it, but if they start to get the feeling they’re in a real battle, at a time when they’ll also no doubt be desperate to do well in the Champions League, it might get a bit more interesting...

Think we’d be 50/50 between that and calling Sakho a clumsy **** to be honest. We were always 50/50 on him when he played, he only got better when he was missing.
