I agree too. Still time yet but surely a versatile attacker and a left-back were the minimum requirements.

Just got back from the big match
Pretty abysmal really. Particularly poor from Hendo and Ox (absolutely shocking for 30 mins on right wing) first half. Napoli getting in behind Trent on a cross field ball at will. The kids looked sharper during the last 20 mins.
Anyway, **** all that. Managed to get pics of both my kids with Robbo as he was doing a load of pics and autographs on the lap of honour at full time
was incredibly lucky and my lads are absolutely buzzing.
Was worth £100 just for that.Modifying post.

We’re not though. We’re not talking about Sturridge of 5 years ago. If Brewster is anything like as good as he’s rated then he easily replaces last year’s Sturridge. Origi is better than we thought this time 12 months ago too.Originally posted by chadrtc View PostWe’re definitely weaker than we were with them. No cover at fullback and extremely thin in terms of centre forwards. When you add the potential increase in fixtures this year, it doesn’t look great.
We went near perfect with what we had last year, I’d be genuinely surprised if this squad can reach that level again. I’d be surprised if we’re as lucky with injuries to our front 3 as well, given the amount they’ve all played in the last 12 months.
Moreno doesn’t count for much because we simply didn’t use him. An injury to Robertson last season would just as likely still have seen Milner do a lot of the filling in.
I agree we’re pushing it with how much we’re asking of the front 3, which is why I’d have liked another wide forward to take some of Salah and Mane’s minutes. I think Firmino should be ok if Brewster is to get his chances this season though..

Fantastic - that’s what it’s all about for fans in preseason. Your kids have a lifetime memory thereOriginally posted by Buzzo View PostJust got back from the big match

When it comes to results though you Scots are even more cursed than us - the last two games in Dublin finished 8-1 on aggregate to us

It’s a shame because the absolute buzz pre match was amazing.Originally posted by Irishnev View PostFantastic - that’s what it’s all about for fans in preseason. Your kids have a lifetime memory there

They had The piper on the roof pre match, and then Jamie Webster up there with his guitar giving it - ‘Allez, Allez, Allez’ which was brilliant.
And then the game started....Modifying post.

I disagree. Sturridge got goals last season, including the last minute thunderbolt to save us from defeat against Chelsea. We’re weaker without him, same with Moreno - he’d play if we had injuries at fullback.Originally posted by Pepe79 View PostWe’re not though. We’re not talking about Sturridge of 5 years ago. Cheers mate, yeah the pics made a huge difference!Originally posted by BobTheCharmer View PostReally pleased for you and your kids Buzzo. Nice one.
My net score watching LFC is now 1-7
1-4 Luton Town 1985 or so
0-0 UEFA Cup v some no marks early 90’s
And now a 3-0 drubbing v Napoli. Last goal I saw for us was big Jan Molby. Might have to try and get to more games to see if I can get a win.Modifying post.

One thing you get with Klopp is 100% honesty. I agree with his every word. And the reception for the bus was remarkable.
Two very different aspects of the game - one is a much more positive thing, it's the atmosphere and the reception when we came in. I asked today when we drove in - because it was outstanding how the people were waiting for us and how the atmosphere was there when we drove in with the bus - when we were last in Scotland and nobody could really tell me when it was - 2012. I had goose bumps when I left the bus, that was incredible. That was the positive part and then the lesser positive part obviously was the game.
The start was good, and that's it. The start was good and the ending was good because the young boys came in and brought some freshness and they were cheeky and all that stuff. That looked nice. We just conceded two simple goals, each ball we lost was pretty much a proper counter-attack. Napoli are good in that, but you have to defend that obviously better or you have to keep the ball or you have to have a better formation. Pretty much you need to have everything better than we had in these situations and they had more chances. We had a couple of chances as well, the first one especially.Modifying post.

Sturridge got 4 goals and played around 800 mins. Unless you know already that Brewster can’t match that then you can’t definitely say we’re weaker for the change. Yes he scored against Chelsea, and more importantly PSG, but you don’t judge squad strength on individual moments.Originally posted by chadrtc View PostI disagree. As I’ve said, Moreno hardly played at all. I don’t see much argument for saying we’re weaker for not having a player we didn’t use anyway..

But Brewster was available for the last 2 months of the season and didn’t get a minute, whereas Sturridge did.Originally posted by Pepe79 View PostSturridge got 4 goals and played around 800 mins.
