I don’t see the argument for us losing players and not being weaker.
Brewster was coming back from a long term injury. Hardly the time to throw him in.

Because as i’ve said, these players barely featured and what contribution one of them did make should easily be replaced by the player taking his spot.

I don't know that we are really weaker, we moved on Sturridge and Moreno. Moreno didn't play last year Milner slotted in at LB when needed, he's not a loss. Sturridge did contribute, but in relatively few games, Origi has improved and had he been at that level at the start of the season he would have played ahead of Sturridge. Also last year we had no Ox which we knew going into the season, on balance I would say the squad is about the same.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

We’re never going to agree on this. Opinions etc.

We’ve also got Fabinho established from the start now, which is probably the biggest difference between the start of this season and last. And Keita was starting to find his feet too.

Start at the bottom & read up...

                'A curtain-raiser? It's unbelievable'

Still trying to work out if Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is genuinely surprised to hear people call the Community Shield game a "pre-season friendly".

"I would like to try to win it, it's a final. This is the first time I realised that nobody sees it like that, to be honest. "A curtain-raiser", it's unbelievable."

'I don't want to find excuses'

Jurgen Klopp continued: "I don't want to find excuses before we play them but we had a completely different pre-season, we played it without six players. Have we had the best pre-season of our lives? I cannot say that with the results, but the sessions were really good. From a freshness point of view, the games came at the wrong moment.

"The problem is all the games are in public so everybody sees what we're doing. Some people get concerned, some people don't. But we have to prove ourselves during the season, not in one game."

'I will ask what the Community Shield means'

Jurgen Klopp added: "I don't think we can expect to play our best game of the season on Sunday, that's how it is with the pre-season we've had and the long season after it.

"But it's not about that, it's about winning a football game, and we'll try to do that. There are different ways to do that and hopefully we'll find that.

"I don't know why people play this competition if it means nothing, why don't we cancel it then? I will ask the club exactly how it is, what it will mean in the history of the club."

                'It's a pre-season friendly?'

Our very own Juliette Ferrington used the words "pre-season friendly" in a question to Jurgen Klopp but the Liverpool boss looked bemused and interrupted, saying: "Sorry, it's a pre-season friendly? That's how you see it in this country? Nobody told me that so far."

'Pre-season results not most important thing'

Jurgen Klopp added: "Good results in the pre-season help to build confidence but that's not the most important thing.

"The most important thing is that you build the physical skills for a long, long season because we have to, pretty much, prepare only for the games. There's not a lot of time to train.

"You have to feel the game right and have the right timing. We have time to improve that and that's what we'll do."

                'We didn't defend well'

After losing 3-0 to Napoli, Jurgen Klopp has said: "We didn't defend counter-attacks well yesterday, we lost the ball in the wrong moments, and if that happens against Manchester City then you don't have a chance.

"What I've seen so far, City look good. Apart from Sergio Aguero I think all the players have been in.

"It's the same as last season, Manchester City is the most difficult game to play during a a season.

"You have to be ready, it's a good test, and we have to be able to defend in a good way because against City you can get a proper knock and that's not ideal."

                Reds fully fit

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has now begun his news conference in Edinburgh and he's discussing Sunday's Community Shield match with Manchester City.

"It's the first proper game of the season," he said. "It's massively important, and all the boys are fine (fit)."

I hope we win obviously but I won't be remotely arsed if we don't.

The media coverage over friendlies this summer (not just ours), has been ridiculous IMO.

They've gone way over the top, thinking they actually mean anything.

Bit concerned we'll get thumped by them. They've got the much better squad fit and ready to play at the minute. I know Salah and Firmino are training now but surely they won't be match fit?

It really is just a high profile pre-season game but it would be nice to see some signs of last seasons form in this one.

$ity fans in the office are already salivating at how badly we've played pre-season. They reckon we'll get a pasting but I honestly couldn't give a ****; as long as we blast off a week on Friday v Norwich that's all that matters

Without the front 3, Keita, and Ox still finding form/fitness, we don't have a proven goalscorer aside from Big Dick Divock. We're basically relying on him to do the business against Man City, which I'm not very optimistic about based on his last performance.

Tactically, I can see us setting up for the smash and grab.

I don't get why we haven't gone for the versatile forward (Werner?). We have 7 competitions to compete in!

Pretty abysmal really. Particularly poor from Hendo and Ox (absolutely shocking for 30 mins on right wing) first half. Napoli getting in behind Trent on a cross field ball at will. The kids looked sharper during the last 20 mins.

Anyway, **** all that. Managed to get pics of both my kids with Robbo as he was doing a load of pics and autographs on the lap of honour at full time was incredibly lucky and my lads are absolutely buzzing.

Was worth £100 just for that.
Chamberlain has looked miles off the pace in all the games I have watched him so far this season
Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

I hope Gini drops back into midfield against City - Hendo, Millie and Fab in midfield is a bit one paced. Avoiding humiliation would be good...but so would avoiding injuries....
