    Gonzalez is the new...

    ... Vladimir Smicer.

All hype, zero product (well apart from the copious amounts of it in his barnet).

Good feet, looks the part, lovely touch, 'amazing in training'... Gives the ball away 9 times outta ten.

He'll produce 10 woefully anonymous perfromances in a row and then knock one in the top corner in some meaningless Carling Cup tie, which will be sufficent for all those who've vehemently backed him to tell us all that "I told you he'll come good blah blah blah"

He's gonna frustrate the fcuk out of us all season, every season.

    Based on what exactly?

    He looked great in Spain.

Based on the dozen odd times I've seen him play.

      He's never impressed me.

But you can comfort yourself with the knowledge that you're a WAY better fan than me cos you think he's gonna be ACES!

Yep, he didn't play well today, there's no getting away from that.

But then, when your manager chucks on a 'keeper in central midfield ten days before a crucial Champions league qualifier, maybe as a player you get the impression the game means **** all.

          As for Hobbs ?

I know he's a young lad and all, but let's be honest, he was woefully inadequate.

Probably the ones where only two of his three brain cells were operating effectively.

Just wait for a while and see how he adapts. Only a fool would believe all the hype that's built up over the last 6 months or so, but that doesn't mean he's the new Smicer.

To be honest I don't see why everyone is so worked up either way. He has good ability and many people believed he played very well last season in Spain, however we have no idea wether he will adapt. Given this fact how anyone can hype him or slate him like you have I don't have a clue.

I suspect you want to say this so that if he does fail then you can say I told you so.

Garcia frustrates a lot of people - good player though and he improves our team. I'm reserving judgement until I see Gonzales play a few competetive games for us. I know it is a controversial stand point but I'm sticking to it.

Kewell was probably always going to be Rafa's first choice at LM this season when fit anyway, going by how much Rafa seems to rate him and by what Elisha has said on YNWA.

Yeah, I agree with you. Still believe that a fit Kewell is Rafa's first choice at LM. I think people seem to underestimate how much Rafa rates him...

Btw, what did Elisha say on YNWA?

I think Warnock/Aurelio might have more of a role to play in midfield than people expect. Although I agree that Kewell is Rafas first choice, I can't see him being fit for every game.
