These are woeful and can't defend at all so it'd be nice to put a strong team out and get them belted rather than giving them a chance with a mish mash team of rusty players who'll be knackered on 60. The quarters looks like it could be relatively strong line up, well name wise anyway as Arsenal, Utd etc aren't good at football so it'd be nice to be part of it instead of watching at home yet again.

I would go full strength personally. But if I had to rotate a bit I would do this....
--------- Adrian -----------
Trent Gomez Virgil Robbo
--- Jones Milner Lallana ---
---- Ox Origi Mane ----
Ox in coz Elliot playing for U19sLast edited by Havors; 03-03-20, 05:10 PM.

Fab will most likely play on the weekend & the CL Match so he might get rested from this. I’d rather see Matip start if he’s up to speed but I can see your thinking behind choosing Degsy again. Not sure many/ any others will agree though.

Some of the first team might benefit from playing again, epecially if, like Mane, Fab and Degsy, they haven't had too many minutes in recent weeks. Might help with rhythm/form.

Fabinho or Lallana in the holding role? Fab hasn’t come back in great form so this might be a game to start Lallana but I don’t want to see wholesale changes.

It is a tricky team to pick as there are some players on the periphery that deserve a chance, some players who played on Saturday who will want to play again and a tie to win. One thing though, Chelsea are in more of a predicament than us, they have been dragged into a battle for CL places, have injuries and will be needing to concentrate on the League and the filthy lucre that the CL brings every year.
I'd want a strong defence to try and get a bit of rhythm going. The questions would be how bad was JG's injury (if he is in any way a risk then play Lovren or Matip) also maybe Salah up front...
We need to replicate Hendo's work rate and I only really see Milner that offers that aggression.
Gini has played loads so give him the night off. We played roughly this team v Everton in the League, and they played well.
So I'd go.

Yep I'd be tempted to start Minamino too. I wouldn't make many other changes though (Matip for Lovren).Originally posted by Rich View PostI concur - Jones deserves a start, I'd stick in our Japanese dude too - tempted to play Williams - if its VVD and Gomez in the centre.
Jones arguably improves the midfield from the other day to be honest, they were so poor. I think he almost gets in on merit and offers a genuine goal threat too. I really hope he does start.
Alisson
Trent Matip VVD Robbo
Fabinho
Wijnaldum Jones
Salah Bobby Minamino
Something like that. With Williams, Elliot etc on the bench.Last edited by Pablo; 03-03-20, 10:57 AM.
