Paletta looks like Ayala or Cannavaro... until he does a small mistake and he will be labelled as a Traore..

Like the look of him though and hope he can become a very good player for us.. Replace Hyypia maybe?

It's an interesting one as Rafa compared his style to Carra's and Agger's more to Hyypia. I would have thought that this would mean he sees Agger as the natural replacement for Hyypia, however with his injuries maybe Palletta will get the chance to prove himself.

Anyone know how tall he is? I ask because of the obvious strength of Sami in the air and the fact I think that we will miss his dominance in that area when he finally hangs up his boots.

I think most defenders would struggle to match Sami's aerial dominance. I did notice Benitez comparing Paletta to Carragher but from the few games I have watched, Paletta seem very comfortable in the air as well...

impressed with paletta as well, his tackling is superb.

agger still is a complete stranger to me even though he signed for us more than 6 months ago, bit of a sicknote.........maybe we could add aurelio to that category soon.

First year with us he was over here (in the US) on a pre-season tour and he looked the real deal.

Hence my rather hasty adoption of JosemisUncle on KT (boy is that one I regretted )

Paletta was impressive, showed good timing in the tackle and looks like the type of player who will needle the opposition forwards when the ball is out of the way. Peltier also showed some promise considering he was played out of position.

Rafa's building a good, young squad who should be around for a long time to come.

Once Rafa has him drilled in exactly where to be positionally in every situation Paletta looks like he will be a very good signing.

Until Rafa has him trained poperly though expect a few ocassions where he gets sucked out of position looking to go after the ball / tackle

Paletta is 6'2 vs Sami 6'3 vs Agger 6'3 vs Carra 5'9

                              No. I don't think so...

                              It's more like

                              Paletta 6'1 Sami 6'3 Agger 6'1 Carragher 5'11 1/2
