I still think we need a starter quality midfielder, but - I am very excited about Jones, Elliott and Carvalho for next season!

another CM would be perfect. Will be a learning curve for Elliot and Carvalho.

Delighted for him to get 4 goals, the keeper in 2nd half was abysmal but yup monkey off the back now, he can relax and concentrate on learning the system and building an understanding with the lads.

Yeah, he looks like the sort of striker that poses a completely different set of options than we have had before.

Totally agree if we can make those chances then he is going to score. Having a guy who is all about putting the ball in the net up there will be amazing, and it is not as if we are exactly goal shy anyway!

Interesting starting X1 that with a few positions up for grabs come the Fulham match.

Konate or Matip ?
Naby or Hendo ?
Firmino or Nunez ?

Think against Fulham it will be Konate, Henderson and Nunez.

Do not think Firmino is in contention for a starting place unless Nunez picks up a knock or illness before August 6th.

The other pairings listed you could pick either guy and not see a drop off in the quality of the starting XI.

The only wildcard imo would be if one of Carvalho or Elliot impress enough between now and the Fulham game and turn the midfield question into

Keita or Henderson or Carvalho or Elliot or Barella or Nunes

Though if we do not see Alisson or Kelleher getting a proper run out before the final whistle in the Community Shield, then it may well be Adrian starting the season for us.

Think it will be the other way round tbh. With five subs allowed this season, Klopp will have a lot more freedom to tweak things.

My logic for Bobby starting is that Nunez will be more effective against tired legs and it will also take a bit of the pressure away from Nunez.

That makes sense when put like that, though my take is that starting with Bobby would mean starting with less pace, less goal threat and giving Fulham's back line less to worry about.

Would prefer to run their back line into the ground and then have the guile of Bobby, Carvalho etc to bring on to pick passes when legs are too tired to intercept/chase like they might have been earlier on.

Either way it is a nice problem to have when we are debating whether to start one good player or another good player rather than having just a good player and then a big drop off to the back up player.
