He's playing like it. Class. One slight criticism: at the end of the first half he was attempting dainty little passes around our box and getting into a muddle with other players when the ball should have just been cleared.Originally posted by BootRoom View PostGood to get a transfer completed quickly and efficiently without a drawn out will-he-won't-he-sign saga. Judging by his signing video, he's a composed and confident fella, and definitely won't be needing any "mentoring" bollocks in order to settle in.

He was brilliant today and that’s the quality of player he is. He’s not even fully settled yet and he’s already an important player. He makes a meaningful impact on games even if he’s not scoring or assisting. His composure and assurance in possession are great and he has the capability and the mentality to strike for goal.
He makes things happen in the final third and we’ve not had a midfielder that does that since Gerrard, arguably.

I don't know if he looks "class". I like what I have seen but I haven't seen enough of him in the prem to have that opinion. He certainly puts in a shift we is great & needed but I don't think we paid 60m quid just for that. The whole team needs a certain type of player or players in to help solve this puzzle. Defence gets its protection & Szob and Mac are able to showcase why we paid the money for them & in turn help the forward line, instead of them running around aimless in a system that currently, we simply do not have the right personnel to be successful long term imo.Last edited by danperkins; 14-08-23, 12:25 PM.

I hope it doesn't lessen his donkey work. All our players need to indulge in more donkey work and get back to being the fittest and hardest team to play against. That was a good welcome to England for Dom. He looks class.Originally posted by danperkins View PostIf we can sign a quality DM, it certainly would lessen his donkey work & maybe we might see some of his attacking quality.

He had that run where he cut through their defence and then Jota took his shot. If he’d scored there a legend is born. But that showed his potential!

I thought he showed more than enough in that first 25 or so to see he's going to be a proper player for us. Pleased with his aggressive running off the ball too.

Well I csnt deny any of that, he's becoming a real problemOriginally posted by ric.williams View Posthow much help does he need?
he's already got Konate having to spend half the game at right back cos he cant be arsed running back

how much help does he need?Originally posted by danperkins View PostI don't think I am, in general I thought we were pretty **** for two thirds of the game, it wasn't just him. Forwards got nothing, we're casual and lazy, midfield didn't know what way to play and defence looked fragile as anything. MacAllister imo was our best performer and even he tired after 60 mins or so.
Szob and MacAllister aren't playing where they are best suited. Both work hard but we need a specialist DM, two in fact that can patrol and clean up in front of the defence. Szob was missing a few times to help Trent, he worked hard and tried his best but in a disjointed setup, where you have square pegs in round holes playing in a system that negates several players best attributes... sure what did we expect. We are a mess and it showed, not an indictment on Szob in particular, it's all round **** show.
Not worried about him but I thought he was poor.

Wasn’t as good as Mac Allister but thought he showed enough to suggest he’s going to be a fine player when settled and in a less disjointed team. Should be taking all our corners!
