Semenyo was taking a throw-in in front of the main stand, towards the kop end. A guy in a wheelchair gave him what is alleged to be racist abuse. Police took him away at half time. I don’t know what he is alleged to have said.

I didnt get to see the match. My concern before the game is without Grav sitting protecting the back line we would have exploitable gaps.

How did it work out with Macca and Dom in there?

I saw he hooked off both fullback, so I am guessing it needs a bit of work?

Macca struggled a bit against Scott who was allowed to be more physical with him than he was allowed to be in return. You know that thing where refs try to make a game of it by allowing the underdog to rough up the favourites a bit? That. Dom had Tavernier and Brooks on his side but again the ref gave him nothing.

Special mention for the refs. They were particularly ****. Like they practiced all summer how to be better at something they were already good at. And all that hard work has paid off, they are now another level of ****.

Bournemouth played well to be fair. They shut down space in the centre well, pressed liverpools backline well and semenyo was a problem on the counter.

The pace and power he has, he could be a Salah successor in a seasons time.

Hard game for wirtz, harder game for kerkez but Ekitike played well.

I think it was an odd decision to bring frimpong off for endo with the pace of brooks.

Too much risk taken before the counter for Bournemouths second but otherwise it was a decent enough first match and a great result.

One trade off of not having szobo in the 10 does mean that the Liverpool press doesn’t look as intense or in that same tight 4 player shape as most of last season

Nice tributes to Diogo. A real shame about the racist incident but unfortunately itÂ’s unsurprising given that there are bigots everywhere and the trends in many societies in general in recent times seem more likely to embolden them.

Yea 100%, Gomez partially at fault for making a run at that moment which wasn’t a great decision but not the only one. Even if he doesn’t, it’s still 4 on 3 on the break.
