mate agree with most of what you've said. However I think Pennant has shown some signs of imporvement and confidence over the past few games. The lad has the talent but his head hasn't seemed right. I agree that there are better out there, but until we have the money to get them we have to make do with Pennant.

Pennant was bought because we needed a right winger. Rafa couldn't afford his number one choice so he signed Pennant instead. It's easy to say that Rafa should have signed Alves instead of Bellamy and Pennant but we also needed a partner to Kuyt.Originally posted by Poker View PostPennant can cross but has no pace and should never have been bought
If Rafa had more money then he would be able to afford to sign the players he really want.
Kuyt first choice and as second choice a right winger we could afford plus a partner to Kuyt.
You can't sign someone you can't afford.Just believe and you never know what will happen.
According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

We'd all love a big beemer to run down the right wing of a motorway wouldn't we; sadly most of us have to make do with a cortina and live in the real world in the middle lane, occasionaly dipping into the fast lane to overtake the skoda, which is what we had to do this summer, for the benefit of the whole squad, not just the first 11.Originally posted by AFII View PostPennant was bought because we needed a right winger. and if he should happen to fall in to some money sometime soon, i also think he wont hesitate to spend it on a right midfielder and take the harsh decision to move germaine alongOriginally posted by AFII View PostIf Rafa had more money then he would be able to afford to sign the players he really want.drunk knows best

Pennant still probably needs to show a bit more application, but he has definitely improved recently - he still shows flashes of inspiration but seems off the pace on other occasions, but a few assists lately should give him confidence and with the stick he's been getting he'll need that.Originally posted by El Diego View PostI am really happy how these guys have been playing recently, I think that since the court case Bellers has been on top form but I would like to see him with Crouch on Tuesday, I mean Kuyt hasn't played his best football for the last couple of games so needs a rest. Gonzalez, I don't know what has happened to him recently but whatever has happened he needs to keep it up. Also Pennant got a lot of stick on these forums some deserved but a lot of it wasn't, and he has been really good for the past three or four games. So do any of you think that these three player will be able to keep the form up for the rest of the season?
Bellers is beginning to look like the player that we thought we were getting - he's very quick, with good control and movement and his link up play shows that he is an intelligent footballer too. He's starting to find the back of the net too - long may it continue.
Gonzalez has chipped in with the odd goal, and whilst his form is somewhat inconsistent you can see that he is definitely improving - the physical nature of the Prem is obviously a bit of a shock to some of our foreign imports, but he can get stuck in when it matters and his pace is a handy thing to have on the wing. He can be shrugged off the ball too easily at times, but then he only weighs 23 ounces.

Rafa have showed that he will sell a player if he isn't good enough. It's up Pennant to show week in week out that he should stay. If he doesn't do that then he will be sold. I don't think Rafa will consider to sell him before next summer so he will have a few months left to show that he want to stay.Originally posted by enema of the state View Post

Alves will probably be signed anyway but if Pennant improves then he may have a chance to stay as a backup to him.Just believe and you never know what will happen.
