He`s just a good player. And one who needs a goal to fly in off his arse.

I stick one in, about every 50 posts of "natural finisher" bollocks or so

Well we have determined that the term natural finisher should perhaps be modified to naturally instinctive finisher or instinctively natural finisher!

There is nothing wrong with Dirky Boy.

he is a class act, and will score goals. He is just having a rough patch, once he hits one his confidence will go up and he wont snatch at them, like he has been.

He could do with a rest IMO, he works so hard during games he must be knackered at the moment.

His game is a little similar to mark hughes or kevin keegan. There is no way they could keep up there workrate in todays game either, its gone so ****in stupidly fast. He is deffo a player we should be looking to rest on occasion to get the best out of him.

Only if you think 'one of' means being in the top 50 rather than say top 20. Fantastic player, yes, one of the greatest this country's seen - not IMO.

Is anyone else worried about Dirk Kuyt’s goalscoring prowess?

He’s clearly a good player. Strong, effervescent and intelligent…but is he a clinical finisher? Based on the evidence presented so far, the answer would have to be no. I think many of us thought we were getting a deadly goalscorer.

It’s too early to make any firm judgements about Kuyt, IMO. He may just be lacking a bit of confidence in front of goal currently, I dunno – I wonder if he ever missed so many chances in Holland? He could have had five on Saturday and there was a time when I feared his spurned opportunities would come back to bite us on the arse.

Personally I’d go with Crouch & Bellamy for the next couple of games and give Dirky boy a rest. I know I’m in a minority here, but I don’t think there’s anything between Crouch & Kuyt. Yes, Dirk is a little more mobile and has a touch more pace, but Crouch offers us just as much. His instant contribution on Saturday should serve as a reminder that Kuyt should not be guaranteed a place.
I was under the impression before he joined that he was a number two striker. By that I mean more of a provider than reciever. To be fair to the lad, he has scored more than Shevchenko who is supposed to be the complete striker.

I'd simply say let him have a full season playing week in week out before we get the knives out (which Shaggy I know you were not doing really).

I never bought this "time to adjust" thing but having seen how some of the foreign players have been performing for other clubs as well as ours, it shows that a year's know-how goes a long way.

You could also argue Bellamy has missed a fair few chances.

Main thing is we are scoring and winning.

Kuyt and Bellers have an understanding that in itself is worth loads.
Kuyt seems to be used more as the link up or provider i.e. doing the team role.
yesterday he was always back against the goal to recieve the pass.

works hard for the team and since him and Bellers have started we've not done too bad.

Crouch hasn't the pace to keep up, so apparent yesterday, Rafa's building a fast team similar to Arsenal a few years ago and that's why we won't need Crouch as we did a few years back
Its times like these we learn to live again FF

I think he needs a goal but that is all, his link up play and overall incredible work ethic put him above Crouch Fowler and Bellamy, He never stops running and chases everything, He doesnt look prolific but i would rather have a team with 6 players with 10 goals each than a team with one player with 30.

                        5 goals (target 15)

                        3 assists also........

3 games without a goal is hardly a drought and his overall play yesterday looked good IMHO. He was unlucky not to score in the first half and was only foiled by a great save from Ben Foster.

Not many foreign players come over here and set the world on fire from the start do they? I remember Bergkamp not being able to buy a goal for love nor money when he signed from Inter Milan............

Dirk is doing just fine - which is why Rafa keeps playing him. I don't believe he's that clinical finisher that I thought we were getting - but if his play contributes more goals throughout the team then I'm more than happy; look at the number of assists lately.

Tomkins reckons he's hit the post 5 times this season & the bookies have him 5th favourite to be the Prem's top scorer. Reckon he'll do us fine- especially if/when we get decent service from the wings & he fully adapts to the league.

He isnt a completely clinical no, but I never expected Rafa to go for the poacher type and to say that I'm "worried" about his goal scoring is well overstating the case. Alll that having been said though, I do think Crouchy has earned the right to start a few games & with the in close succession over the Xmas period & Watford is the game I'd most likely have started him in.

Just a dip of form from Dirk I suspect.

But he is terribly one footed, his first touch is average and not as clinical as I thought in front of goal. He has been unlucky though, and will get better as the season evolves.

But...I think he is only a marginal improvement on Morientes actually. I have to say I am a bit disappointed so far and it is still early doors, but I have high standards as we spent 10 mill on him.
