The Owen of today might not have the pace he once possesed but he is still a clinical goalscorer. We would be a better squad with him on board.....let's face it God's best days are behind him and I'd be surprised to see him with us next season so I think signing Owen next summer would be a positive thing!!
    Dare we believe

      taken owen back?
you mean if the board had sanctioned a deal to pay twice as much for a player sold only one year previously?

What with our lack of a prolific goalscorer/finisher and the amount of chances we create, i mean...

          Thoughts?

(I'd like to think i'll get more than just a 'no' or a 'yes', eg reasons behind it, but i know some smartarse will give one of those two as a one word answer.... ...and before anyone tries it, that covers 'maybe' 'perhaps' 'possibly' and all other variants )
Not really because Owen would have been injured whoever he signed for.

His seasons basically following a simple pattern

            Phase One - Purple patch
Phase Two - Drought (maybe lasting up to 6/7 games)
Phase Three - injury (usually reasonably long term)

            Repeat infinitum

Aside from that i will never forgive him for walking out on us like he did. Was it less than a week before his Real transfer that he declared he was signing a new contract with liverpool? There was no need for that.

After this latest injury I really can't see him getting back to anywhere near his best. I predict a frustrating and difficult next season or two for him at Newcastle (with maybe a little more phase two than phase one) followed by maybe a move to somewhere **** like Bolton. He will then get injured again and probably be retired at 30.......

That's my bleak forecast of the Owen future

The short answer is no I don't think we would have been better off with Owen

            well said.

Yes, i mean if the board had sanctioned a deal to sign a player that wasnt approaching the end of his contract, as opposed to one who was.

contracts are almost irrelevant these days if someone doesnt want to honour their contact they leave, kick up a fuss etc etc

                    pick another player
not one who would have cost twice as what we sold him for
nor one who repeatedly told the fans and presumably his manager and the board that he would sign another contract and that it was just a formality.
                    move on.

I dont think so as i think people had worked him out at Liverpool, who's to say also that Rafa would have played this way with Michael in the team. Defenses sit deep against Owen and he is knackered, since he lost the ability to beat the first man he lost a lot of his threat, he was doing OK at Newcastle as teams dont sit back against them as they always feel they can play for the win even at St James's

Well I think there would have been a better chance of him being run over by a Renault Clio with two Welshmen in it, one of them wearing a Scooby Doo outfit.

                                Another myth.

Owen scored more often for us than Robbie.

You can check out the facts if you want.

A fit Owen is one of the best strikers in the World and that is probably why Rafa wanted him back before he got injured.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.
