Owen's latest two injuries was the first times in his career that he has been out a long time.

Bellamy have a similar injury record and he also had a very bad knee injury.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

What with our lack of a prolific goalscorer/finisher and the amount of chances we create, i mean...

        Thoughts?
Looking at how many games Owen has played for Newcastle since joining them, I thought the answer is simple

Very difficult to be a prolific goal scorer from the stands

It's pointless speculating if he would have been injured if we signed him. Bottom line is he did get injured and has proven a costly mistake for Newcastle.

The type of injury that Owen sustained in the World Cup is a direct result of him being rushed back after a long period of not playing. The cruciate ligaments weaken after not being used properly. Knowing Owen's desire to play for England above everything, the likelyhood of this injury happening was always a good one, regardless of which club he played for

He would probably not got his first long term injury if he had played for us and that would mean that he wouldn't have been out a long time when he played in the World Cup and that would probably mean that he wouldn't have got injured in the World Cup because his knee would have been stronger but in the same time he may have got another injury playing for us, who knows?

                Exactly.

Even just one difference in selection or game can have a significant impact, let alone being at a different club altogether.

No one can say for certain.

The point is that it's totally pointless to even speculate if he would have got injured or not because he wouldn't have played the game he got injured in if he had played for us so that accident would never have happened.

Or he may have had another accident. Past performance would tend to indicate that that would be a good possibility

His foot injury was the first long term injury in his career so it would probably not been that big chance that he would have got a long term injury playing for us, but who knows?

If he never left us he wouldn't have been on the bench so much. Training just doesnt put the same strain on Bones and Ligaments like a Real match does. An athlete needs to perform to stay Strong

His inactivity at Madrid is a lot more likely to have contributed to his long term injury than playing for Newcastle or any other club after that.

But as you say, We'll never know

I agree with AFII, he definitely wouldn't have got his first injury if he'd been playing for us because you can't get that type of injury on the bench

He picked up a lot of injuries when he played for us. A player like Owen is likely to pick up injuries.

Your original question was if Owen would have made a difference to our team at the moment?

Probably, but he also had periods where he couldn't find the target. I think the Biggest problem would have been that Rafa expects his strikers to work hard in defence and attack. He also doesnt make a fuss about one player and prefers a team attitude. Owen needs a manager like Ged, that will constantly boost his ego and ensure that the whole team strives to provide him with scoring chances.

Rafa is not like that. He proved it with Cisse.

Owen gave us Great memories, but he never showed that Liverpool was everything to him. That is why he was never idolized by the Fans like Fowler is. Probably why he left in the First place.

Rafa wanted to sign him twice and that shows that he believes that he would have been the right player for us. Rafa wanted Owen and Kuyt upfront.

The first time after he left Real and the second just before he got his foot injury.

We now have Bellamy so I doubt that Rafa will sign Owen.
