Yes, their system was so convinced by his pace that they were even happy enough to use it from the bench half the time.

You're speaking as if every team he's ever played for went "Right, let's rip up the usual system, we're going to build EVERYTHING to suit Michael". Which, with all due respect, isnt true.

Madrid barely picked him, he was a reserve. Yet, he still had the best goals-minutes ratio and got about 16 that season.

Surely if they'd geared up their system to suit him, they'd have had him in the 1st team all the time.

Cant sprint for 90 minutes. They used him as an impact player.

Sometimes Sydney, the simplest explenation is the correct one.

Sorry Christopher, i've edited and added a bit to the previous post.

The fact remains though, if they were that convinced by his quality, surely he'd have played most games? Or even started them, and then got subbed.

He wasnt considered that good by Madrid, because he was a boring professional player and not a 'galactico', so he was often a reserve.

They didnt set up their system just to suit him.

So hang on, firstly youre saying Owen is world class and now youre saying he wasnt considered good enough for Madrid. So he is just on par with Woodgate then?

Mate, make a point and stick with it until you realise youre wrong and accept it, dont kinda backtrack and try and get people to change their arguemet to prove your original one right. Youre starting to lose me with your Jibba jabba.

Sorry, how could i be right when i'm disagreeing with you?

You seriously think Madrid pick the best players? Is that why they're doing so brilliantly this season then?

They choose their 'galacticos' and obviously, those are likely to be attacking players, as they usually have more flair about them. That's been evident for years.

But no, i must be wrong, because i happen to disagree with you

Oh...and for the record, did i call him world class?

Owen doesn't need a gameplan to be built around him any more than other strikers do IMO. He is a great finisher, and I do think even when not scoring he works for the team. He's always making runs dragging defenders out of position and forcing them to play deeper leaving space for players to work between the lines. It's just all that is off the ball work so goes unnoticed.

Wouldn't really want us to re-sign the little **** now though unless we had enough money to sort out other things first, plus I would prefer us to sign someone with a bit more strength and presence. We have enough attacking players who are a bit fragile as it is IMO. I don't think signing Owen would be a risk worth taking given anything less than very substantial funds.

Im talking in general about disagreeing with people. Im not as big headed as some as I admit when Im wrong.

Madrid are 3rd all of what 3-4 points off top? Funnily enough same as Chelsea points wise, eh? I dont happen to give a **** how Madrid pick their teams, but it seems they need defenders as they have no problem scoring goals. Besides, Idve shipped Owen out in favour of Van Nistlerooy same as they did. Whats your point?

Not sure if you did or not but he has been in the World Class bracket, whether the Owen-haters like it or not.

Time will tell, but I sure hope he comes back and scores goals to ram the words down the throats of the Bitters who refuse to see his talent.

His record was every bit as good as Rushie's or Fowlers and they are rightly Gods, yet Michael gets the "Welsh Midget" treatment because people, who don't know for sure, believe everything they read in the papers about him. Surely as LFC fans we should know better than that?

No question. Our goals tally would be at least 8-10 goals higher in all comps.

Dont get me wrong here, I dont hate him, far from it, I just reckon he is a spent force now.

Now I can live with what you said there.

But your original post had parts where you slated him about his move to Madrid. Now we can all summise BUT the only people who really know are MO and the club. I'd be surprised if either of those parties were posting on here

He could well be a spent force, and only time will tell. I hope he proves you wrong - nothing personal!

And many fewer goals. Owen wipes the floor with Bellamy when it comes to goals. To even compare the 2 is laughable. Owen is class. Bellamy isn't even in the same bracket. Never will be.
