If you ask me they should just chuck them all in a ring together and have a big royal rumble, because all these fights will never get done before they retire

I think out of all the boxers in the world Mosely and Cotto would be the ones who could possibly cause him the most problems. If he fights on they're the two fighters I'd like to see him fight next
If Coto could get in close to Mayweather he would cause him real problems, I just cant see many fighters getting close enough to Mayweather to cause him any real problems.
Mosley is quick and has good hands, but he is much easier to hit than Mayweather, Points win for Mayweather against Coto and I think he could stop Mosley.

'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'
"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

I would see Mayweather beating both, but in reverse. I could see him hurting and stopping Cotto in seven to eight rounds. Mosley I think would have the heart and strength to stay on his feet in a one sided bout.
Mayweather is a damn fine in fighter as well as being comfortable fighting from distance. I'm of the thinking that he could be good enough to have boxed in many eras and still have been a champ.

To be quite honest, I like his style, obviously not for excitement, but for its effectiveness. I like people to use different angles and have have a good defence, its so hard to fight against. I think he would have posed problems in any era for the top fighters. Much the same way I think Roy Jones Junior (in his prime) would have done the same.
I'll always remember Mayweathers fight against Gatti as a prime example of this, he was up against a man who had fought 10 world champions, or beaten 10 world champions (cant remember which it is), and has been voted 4 times in Ring Magazine's "fight of the year", Mayweather made him look like an amateur.

Yeah, I liked Pernell Whitaker and Chris Byrd for the same reasons. It is a very hard style to try and coach, and even harder to put into practise when you have someone coming at you with bad intentions in the ring.
Roy Jones Jnr is another whose legacy became tarnished in the eyes of many due to the run of losses he had in his later fights. People seemed to forget too readily that he was untouchable for a decade. A peak Jones would not have been out of place in any era.
Mayweather may never be given the credit and praise that his amazing talent deserves. People have always made comments about Mayweather like "wait until he meets a pressure fighter" or "wait until he meets a banger", but he has meet pretty much every type of fighter, from the crude bruisers to the elegant stylists, and he has made beating them look easy for the most part.
I would love to see Mayweather continue on in the ring, but purely for selfish reasons, as he is a joy to watch at work. But he has nothing left to prove imho, he has beaten everyone that has gotten into the ring with him.

For a while I was thinking Mayweather was more about retiring undefeated than anything else, he always always goes on about his unbeaten record, hates anyone else having one (Hatton) I think this is one of the reasons he is retiring early, he wants to retire an undefeated great of the game.
I really have to hand it to him though for taking the De La Hoya fight, as if ever there was a boxer who could threathen him it was him, but we all know what happened next.
I'd like to see Mayweather fighting on, as i still dont think he is finished at his prime, and he could really set his name in stone as a true great if he fights on. There are a few fighters that have been mentioned in this thread id like to see him fight, why he wont take them i'm not so sure, he is clearly at the top of his game and showing no signs of damage from boxing.
I guess he wants th retire as the "pretty boy"

He strikes me as the type of fighter that would stick around if there was someone that he had a sliver of doubt in his mind as to whether he would beat them or not. De La Hoya gave him that sliver, imo, hence Mayweather chased him to get the fight signed and sealed.
There is interesting talk of a possible fight for him if he sticks around, and I don't think it is a match up that too many would have thought of, or even thought that it could ever be on the cards.
It would be at light middleweight, and would depend on Jermaine Taylor beating (as I think he will) Cory Spinks next weekend, and on JT being comfortable with the weight drop.

would be interesting, would be a power test for Mayweather. Taylor would probably be his toughest fight to date.

JT is an amazing athlete, and has good power and very good skills. He has an agressive streak a mile wide, but tempers it with a cold efficiency in the ring. If I had to pick between him and Mayweather at light middleweight, then Mayweather gets his first loss in my eyes.
Calzaghe had better hope that Warren doesn't grow a set of balls and offer JT what he has asked for to come and fight in Wales. Although Calzaghe is naturally the bigger man, I would be backing Taylor to take his unbeaten record too.
