Tyson's rise was in some ways more impressive than his three and a half year first run as heavyweight champion of the world.

From when he made his pro debut to winning the title against Berbick took only 20 months, and Berbick was his 28th fight. Imagine a modern heavyweight fitting in 28 fights in 20 months with a number of those fights being against credible opponents.

Joshua won the title after his 18th fight or something.

After 16 fights Joshua had won the IBF title so a bit quicker again in terms of actual fights, but Tyson fought 28 fights in less time than it took Joshua to fight 16 fights and I don't think there can be any argument that Tyson in his first 20 months as a pro fought some fighters of a higher calibre to what Joshua has faced in his career to date.

My point was that in terms of timescale Tyson's rise to the very top was very quick for a heavyweight and the amount of fights that he crammed into 20 months was a throwback to another era.

Plus compared to modern day heavyweights the quality that he had faced by the end of that 20 month period was much higher than was a modern heavyweight would face after 20 months a pro.

Some quotes here from Tony Bellew, talking about his all-British heavyweight fight with David Haye, which will take place on 4 March in London.

“I'm not under any illusions, I know exactly what I am going up against, it's big risk, big reward," said Bellew.

“He hasn't been in a hard fight for over five years. The last time he had a gut check, he failed it. Going into this fight I 100% know that he does not want it as much as me and he is not going to be as brave as me.

"He thinks he can beat me up in one round with one hand. He's in for a rude awakening, because if this fight gets hard, and I expect it to be the hardest night of my life, this clown expects a walk in the park and he's in for a bad night.”

              .....................

Some quotes from David Haye, who will be fighting Tony Bellew in an all-British heavyweight clash in London on 4 March.

“The public demand for me to violently knockout Tony Bellew was simply too strong,” said Haye.

“The country is fed up of his constant yapping. Even in his home town of Liverpool, I would be stopped in the street by people begging me to spectacularly send him into retirement.

“Bellew is completely delusional if he thinks he can beat me. He still thinks he's on the set of Creed and there will be some kind of Rocky style happy ending. But come March 4th at The 02 in London I will bring reality crashing down on him."

Would there be any weight clause in the contract (if that is even legal?) that restricts Haye to a certain weight above 200lb? IIRC Haye weighed in at 16st in his last fight...otherwise it seems suicidal for Bellew to want to fight Haye at Heavyweight

The build up will be fun, looking forward to next Wednesday's press conference

Couldn't be arsed with them trying to talk up a fight. Why on earth Bellew took this on is beyond me. What's the point, he's never a heavyweight.

Ego and cash. Fully expect Haye to spark him out

It's a cash out fight, nothing more. It'll last until whatever round Haye has baked for the T/KO

Haye ought to be ashamed if himself. He was WBC? mandatory to face the winner of Parker Ruiz. Instead he's landed himself a bum fight.

I'm in no doubt things will get 'heated' at the press conference. Possibly have to separate them.

The inevitable Gloves Are Off turd fest will probably involve some being called a 'fookin rat' and a glass of water being thrown.

A non title heavyweight fight. Between a heavy whos rendered himself irrelevant through inactivity and bum fights and a cruiser whos avoiding the best in his natural division and using this opportunity to add to his already ample moobs.

All of it is absolute horse****.
