It's the server's foot hitting the ground.

    Every time, literally

The tennis shoes were very squeaky on the surface, maybe it was that?

Thought it was a sound effect at one point. Seemed to happen any time a serve was over 95mph as you could see the speed on the screen behind them so maybe it was dropped in for tv viewers like the fake crowd noises for live footy last season.

I know there was some new type of ball being used as well, but doubt that could have made the noise.

I didn't see much of it but absolutely. No idea what was causing it!

The first qualifier to ever win a slam in the open era.

That’s some achievement, unlikely we will ever see that again. She was so far off the radar for achieving this that the media hype machine barely had time to kick in.

Nobody was really talking about her until the start of the week.

An amazing achievement. She almost made it look easy. Almost no nerves.

Scary how composed her game is at such a young age and on such a big stage.

Just imagine her with say five more years experience to further hone her game and she will only be 23 at that point.
She's 5'9" and may grow a little more still

The men's game has become a bit stale, understandable when you consider the heights of the last decade or so

Certainly bests a Williams vs Williams precession

Only qually to win an open ever, in her second tournament at 18. Yeah, she's going to be pretty special.
